It's extremely on brand for us to win a few completely meaningless games against dross at the end. Exact same thing happened before the 2022/23 catastrophe season where Rodgers managed to fool people we were on the right track. I can actually see him staying. -
Find the whole notion of it being OK if we stay down as long as players come through a very dangerous one. That's how you become Norwich or Stoke. It should be totally attainable to do both of these things.
-
To be completely honest it should've ended a while ago. I think it's testament to how well he did here, and how badly those in charge now are that it's gone on until now.
-
I do think he's got something about him. I'd not be upset if it was him.

We have lacked players who chip in with goals for years particularly in midfield. Soumare, Winks, Skipp and Ndidi combined have scored 22 goals in 851 games in their careers. That's absolutely abysmal. For a bit of context, Ryan Yates, that absolute Lampard/Gerrard reincarnate maestro at Forest, has scored 23 goals. So he's scored more than the four of them combined in about a quarter of the games. It's a problem.

Hojlund as well is possibly the worst Premier League transfer of all time. It was mental how much they paid anyway for a bloke who scored 9 times in an Atalanta side who seem to be able to get virtually anybody firing 15+. He's absolutely garbage.

Said it last week, I don't know when it ever became this acceptable to be this bad in the league just because you're in Europe. I know there's normally a natural drop off but the pair of them are a disgrace. It's the worst level final since Portsmouth Cardiff in the FA Cup and honestly Portsmouth were probably better than both of these two have been. Bilbao fans should be on Rudkin's case as well. I don't think if we'd actually made a proper attempt this season that United would've gotten away with this showing in the league and they might've not been able to put as much into Europe. I mean even Spurs last week - absolutely ragged all over the place by Palace. This is a Palace side also in a cup final. It's a quite fascinating final in a way - whoever loses has had an absolutely catastrophic season. Also Forest. Genuinely incredible - they looked absolutely nailed on about six weeks ago and there's now a real chance they're mathematically out of the CL race with a game to go. Genuinely an even worse collapse than ours, given they had the luxury of an extra place to get.

The really miserable part of it. When we take the money as a fix so we can bring in Nathaniel Clyne and Danny Ings.
-
Would be the most joyless ever transfer. Would genuinely piss me off more than the KDH one - which was depressing but out of necessity. Neither fanbase would even be happy with this.

I've been extremely down on us, and I still am, but Christ I think the gap in the leagues is actually a problem. I think even despite this utter disgrace we'll still get a top 6 finish if the play-offs are anything to go by. We're better than Sunderland, Coventry and Bristol City. They've all looked pretty crap in the playoffs. It's good for us in a way but it's bad for the game in general. The gap feels like it's ballooned.

Went to the game. Was brilliant but it was all a bit surreal too, felt so weird that our first game in 14 months was a cup final. Was obviously a total travesty that the ground wasn't full and a shame how many had to miss it when they didn't need to.

We actually did on Sunday - assisted by Marinakis.

This has been the best week in years

The so called best in the business! -
I don't know if the entire club philosophy should just be bringing players through to sell on or whatnot but it definitely needs to be a facet given the position we're in. It is my main worry about Dyche. Is he the best manager to utilise Monga? Potentially elite talent on our hands and his game is very much about structured and organised - which is important, but it probably isn't all that pragmatic with the tools we have.
-
I reckon it's quite likely Aiyawatt wants Martin and Rudkin wants Dyche. Will be us to a tee.
-
Utterly preposterous - against a crap QPR side who rotated themselves. We have bigger issues than the possibility of Dyche.
-
It's no coincidence at all to me that it was a better end given how slowly it sold - people going who actually wanted to be there rather than those going out of habit.
-
This went out the window the day Steve Cooper was appointed. I don't think it's some sort of masterplan, they very much wing it. Man City reference was convenient at the time of appointing Maresca - he'd probably ask Dyche if he could have us playing like PSG.
-
This only really applied if they made the Champions League. Europa League combined with a team who've dropped off anyway and an owner who is clearly going to raise expectations to quite unrealistic levels. I think the groundwork is done for a really tricky season next year. They are also simply not at the level. They've been getting results way better than their performances for a while now. It's caught up with them just in time.
-
I think if a team overperforms then them actually reverting to the mean isn't that likely. Unsure how best to explain this but to simplify it with simply grading their results/performances - their performances were 6/10 with results that were 8/10. If they continue performing at 6/10, I expect their results to start becoming 6/10, on top of the 8/10 results that they've already gotten. In theory results/performances regressing to the mean should mean they are still above where they should 'really' be. You feel though that their performances have nosedived below 6/10. I genuinely post match yesterday wondered if they could be in a relegation battle next season.
