Bit of a leap Wymsey. Plenty of charities run raffles and other competitions to make money. They'll have a target for tickets to sell before they can give away the money, with the idea, obviously, to make more than they payout. It also drums up interest and may help gain other donations.

Alcaraz comes across as a really likeable guy imo, I'm surprised at your take mac tbh. Plus he's great to watch. He's just a young lad who happens to be one of the best in the world at what he does who's enjoying life whilst being successful. That's not smug. God forbid somebody is happy in life. Sinner on the other hand plays percentage tennis, he's not box office at all. His interviews are dull and he has the drugs ban cloud hanging over him. Agassi was unbearable on co-comms for the Alcaraz Fritz match. I know he's American and he'll want to talk about Fritz more and try and big him up a little, but christ it was overkill. Fritz played well, but the way Agassi was talking you'd think he was beating Alcaraz comfortably.

Don't agree with that. We might put flags against their names but they dont represent their nation as such, they represent themselves. I 100% agree with kicking Russian teams out of competitions. These are teams sanctioned by Russian sports organisation, are players selected to join together to try and win on behalf of Russia. The same isn't true for these individual athletes. She's representing herself, not Russia, just as Alcaraz is representing himself not Spain.

I know what your getting at as a wider issue with the world and things like climate change. I just meant in this country it appears to be the attitude that we are happy to be aware of something being broken and to just ignore it. Like the post office system, the cladding on buildings like Grenfell, child sexual abuse inquiry etc. In these instance I don't think its a case of let it be someone else's problem, its just people don't care. Small problem or big problem, they just have no interest in actually doing anything if it might require some effort or financial outlay.
