I defy anyone to identify a single style or approach this team has been coached to do. if Marti hadn’t come out and claimed in pre season he likes to play like Crujff’s dream team then I doubt he’d get the slack some give him. It’s not going to get any better because there is no plan. There are no tactics. There is no progress. The underlying numbers for this team are horrendous. We frequently record xg figures that are below our opponents. Our defensive actions are lamentable. If it wasn’t for Abdul and James we’d be securely in the bottom three. Abdul is regressing because he’s not being coached. He’s being given the ball and asked to regularly beat 2-3 men before crossing or shooting. There no overlap, no underlap, no give and go, no wall passes, no breaking lines, no through balls. That’s not purely down to the players; that’s by design. Marti is out of his depth. He should go but our absentee chairman who nearly ran his dad’s business into the ground in a matter of years is too busy playing Polo to notice or care.

The accusation of pearl clutching towards people who object to chants hoping for the death of Jon Rudkin is odd considering the most hyperbolic responses are from those who believe it’s ok to chant about the desire for Rudkin’s death because it’s only football or because it generated a response from the club that further enraged them. I’d hope that anyone who faces verbal threats at work would have the full support of their employer in saying it’s unacceptable. I’d hope anyone who has had verbal threats to life at work would also receive the full support of their employer in sayings it’s unacceptable. We’d all surely expect our employer to check on our wellbeing and not tell us ‘it’s only words’, or ‘you probably deserved it’ when faced with abuse at work.
