I mean, the rules regarding SCP are pretty public knowledge and it's also pretty public knowledge that to give yourself a bit more leeway to meet those rules that you're better off giving someone a longer contract on a smaller salary as opposed to a shorter contract on a larger salary. Given that the players that we've signed that we've paid a fee for appear to be on what you could consider a longer contract, it's probably fair to ASSUME that this has been done to satisfy said rules rather than to deliberately screw the club over, you know, given that the person in control of this is new to the job and of no previous association to either Top or Rudkin. I wasn't challenging his depth of knowledge, more asking who he would have signed to avoid a post like his, someone that everyone could get behind The assumptions came from him with the wording "I bet you" and "you probably".

Relevant? Just out of curiosity, with your in depth knowledge of our financial situation regarding percentage of salary available to spend to satisfy SCP rules, who would you have signed instead and why?

4 years is likely to facilitate a lower salary for the new SCP rules as opposed to paying a larger salary over a 2 or 3 year contract. He'll have probably accepted this due to the job security it gives to him. Don't necessarily like it, but can see the rationale behind it.

3 of our main prospects currently have nobody to learn from really though do they? Page, Braybrooke and Neale all look incredibly promising and could end up fetching us a large amount of money in the future, so if anything we're investing in both their and our future by bringing someone in to help them. I get the age and resale value argument as we've been ****ed by players like Ayew in the not too distance past. We've also bought players for a lot of money with enormous potential resale value and got absolutely nothing for them (Tielemans) so it's a difficult one either way (made more difficult by Rudkin.)

In what respect? Conversely, he could absolutely help the likes of Braybrooke, Page and Neale to become better players, in which case he could be a really smart signing. That's without knowing the intricacies of the deal I.e if there's a fee/amount of fee, wages, bonuses etc.

But Karim Benzema is available on a free and would obviously come to play for the mighty Leicester City on tiny wages. He'd also block the progression of Hutchinson and Otchere, so maybe not.
