In reference to this especially. Sadly there are many out there who have the same line of thinking.

No surprise that Tory MPs already saying the answer to this is to shift even further to the right. It's funny, back in the 80s people used to mock the left in the UK and saying they always thought the answer was to shift further to the left and the "real communism has never been tried" was a much mocked reapeated phrase. Nowadays it feels like exactly the same thing is happening to the right in the UK. "This isn't real Brexit, they screwed it up in how they enacted it" has become to the 2020s what "real communism hasn't been tried" was to the 1980s when the only way it could be harder is to stick a hard border in Ireland and essentially guarantee Irish reunification and this constant answer to get more and more right wing as the answer to overwhelming defeat. I sincerely hope the right will eat itself but the clear different is they have the newspaper press on their side in the way the left never have had.

Yeah there’s zero chance the LibDems would work with this current Tory party, Lib Dems have always been the most pro-EU and pro-immigration and supra-nationalism major party and far more aligned to Starmer’s New Labour style party than the post-Cameron Tories who are becoming increasingly nationalist, anti-immigration and anti-internationalist. Starmer is ultimately trying to portray Labour as far more of a free market party and more right wing economically than under Milliband or Corbyn so it will make them compatible enough for the LibDems I think. It’s irrelevant though. It’s a Labour majority at the GE for sure.
-
Cameron would still be shit scared of them and request a yes-no referendum on whether or not we should abolish courts defending human rights and abolish all vaccines to try and placate them and "settle" a minor division in his party tbf.
-
Sadly, all I think the Tories will take from this is the depressing thought that they think they haven’t been right wing or anti-immigrant enough and need to be more so at the ge

Even Mahrez got jeered, I think they all will. I know football is naturally tribal but it always feels like there’s more menace to it than pantomime booing. Never sat comfortably with me.

Who won?
-
Honestly if this was done now I’d change my vote and vote Vardy as he’s dragged us over the line. This is why it shouldn’t be done til the end of the season.
-
Wish I could change my vote for player of the season. Vardy deserves it.
-
Now the job is done got to give him the last 10 minutes at Blackburn at least so he can have a proper goodbye from the crowd.
-
I think that’s 190 LCFC goals for Vardy now
-
It also makes Vardy officially our most successful ever player right? As he’ll have 1 Championship title over Kasper, Wes and now Albrighton too.
-
It’s always been that way though. The media have always managed to repeat the “it’s middle class yuppies protesting” over and over again until people start using it as an out and turning their noses up at the protest and it works time and time again. Someone’s class shouldn’t matter when the protests are against so many unnecessarily dying. It’s easier not to protest and scoff at the protesters and I get that to an extent though, it’s impossible and can be overwhelming to think about these things all the time

Eh. Again, you’re making emotional anrguments that have nothing to do with what I’m saying and reading things I’ve not said. I’ve not said I don’t rate Izzet and in fact said people are more the welcome to prefer him. I put him in competition in terms of the midfield place in 4-4-2 as a response to someone else’s post. All I’ve said is that id put Maddison over him and that the arguments that Maddison or Tielemans don’t belong in that team because they underperformed in a relegation season don’t hold water (and I still don’t think Maddison or Barnes really did underperform that much last season tbh, although Tielemans absolutely did) because they’re true of other players who are there too including Izzet in 01/02, that’s it. That’s absolutely nothing against Izzet at all.
-
But all that is true of Izzet too, that’s the point. The point is that people have forgot how Izzet was awful and looked like he couldn’t be bothered in 01/02 either and his performances were also rightly criticised as being way under par at the time. Same with the likes of Elliott, Weller, Worthington and Walsh too who all played major parts in relegations in seasons they wildly underperformed over the years. With time people forget these things, but it’s still raw in the case of those 3 players mentioned. Eh. This always ends up in these illogical but emotional arguments when you question people’s favourite players from decades ago so I’ll step away but nostalgia fades the bad seasons these players have so newer players are treated to harsher standards. If you prefer Izzet fair enough, you’re entitled to that, but these arguments about how those 3 underperformed in a relegation season so they don’t stand alongside other players don’t hold water for why other players are better when they are also true of the likes of Izzet and several other of the older players named.
-
Maddison’s output in our relegated team was better last season than Izzet’s was in either of his 2 relegated seasons though. If you’re going for a pure numbers argument then Maddison beats Izzet hands down. Not going to start a long debate but people are still raw on the relegation from likes of Maddison, Tielemans and Barnes right now that they aren’t yet ready to admit that they were better than most players in their position that came before them.
-
Even though fans turned on them last season, Maddison and Tielemans were both better than Izzet.
-
I want him to get 200 club goals more than 150 PL goals. He’s currently on 188.
-
Get the horrible feeling he’s just gonna go with zero victory lap. Just like King, Wes and Kasper. We really need to arrange something for his final game
-
Everything is politics though. And “keep your politics out of xyz” posts like that are very forthright and stark political statements in themselves favouring the status quo.
-
Needed that
-
It wasn’t. He got like 9 goals in 41 league games while standing around doing nothing. People just remember his hat trick vs Forest second string in the cup, exactly the same as people who have for the past 2 years argued Daka is goood because he scored 4 vs a bottom half Russian side in Europe. Beckford was crap. Far worse player than Yakubu or even Daka.
-
Yakubu agree was a good player. but Beckford didn’t stick the ball in the net though he was useless.
-
Not a massive Corbyn fan, he was clearly still the far better alternative to Boris and a hard Brexit though.

Post-2016 Tories are cruelness personified. How did we ever let a government like this run our country?
