  1. I mean at least choose the Iraq war ffs! “I’m not the worst, there was this one guy who passed acts about human rights, equality and climate change ffs” The ever-needed reminder that Sunak lost to this lady
  2. You have followed British politics for the past 10 years right? The right wing in the UK have gone just as far down the pathetic populist rabbit hole.
  3. Yeh but Labour’s vote also rose in the blue well seats - the middle class seats in the Home Counties in the south east that all were remain seats and that have been gradually going red for years and that will all go fully red for the first time this election, that was the problem, it shouldn’t have been about keeping the red wall, it should’ve been about going after the remain voting blue wall in Kent, Surrey, Hertfordshire and the rest of the south east. The voting demographics of the country have changed, they were too scared to change the demographic they went after.
  4. Milliband treaded the line well between Corbyn and Starmer but got slaughtered for eating a bacon sandwich wrong. Just hope the less and less power of the tabloids continues
  5. Yeh I was cynical the EU would take us back but their recent offers of freedom of movement for 18-30 year olds and Macron talking about a European Association with “former members” seemed like they were aimed at the Labour Party saying they’re happy to renegotiate. Makes me think it’s a lot more likely we’ll drift back towards the EU over the next 5-15 years now
  6. I’m not convinced this form of hard Brexit lasts another 10 years by this point. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if towards the end of the decade uk will start drifting back towards the single market and at least become more similar to Norway or Switzerland in relation to the eu. EU have clearly been making thinly veiled olive branches aimed at Starmer saying there’s room to negotiate once the Tories are out of power.
  7. Corbyn and a lot of his policies were popular in 2017 though and made gains on the Tories don’t forget. 2019 became a single issue election on Brexit where Labour tried to avoid the issue instead of going all in on a 2nd referendum as they should’ve done.
  8. Wasn’t arguing he wasn’t, I was arguing that Mahrez is and the reasons given as to why he’s not are bizarre. Just used Walsh as a comparison because the poster who said Mahrez wasn’t because of his behaviour included Walsh so just pointing out the double standards. It wasn’t meant to be a slight on Walsh.
  9. Tories making adverts for Labour now, saying that if Labour win some of us might be able to actually have some savings.
  10. Watching some of Sunak’s bizarre q&as this week just reminds me that he is way more awkward, wooden and goofy than Ed Milliband was. Curious but not surprising that the tabloids haven’t gone to town on his mannerisms and lack of “toughness” like they did with Milliband.
  11. Yet you include Walsh who thumped a fellow player and got a 13 match ban and Izzet who requested a transfer who both achieved far less and were inferior players for us? It’s double standards, Mahrez should obviously be there.
  12. Victoria Derbyshire gave a good summary. You have to be in your 50s to be an adult during Thatcher now, that’s the thing. Many older voters vote Tory for life often citing the winter of discontent in the 70s. But this generation have Brexit, Covid and the mass fallout from this to look back on which will now in turn take a lot of getting over. I can’t see this generation getting over it especially when so many are overwhelmingly pro-EU. I think Brexit kept Tories in power in the last election but will kill then long term given how age dependent the demographics of the referendum was.
  13. You wouldn’t consider Paul McCartney or Bob Dylan legends of popular music?
  14. It’s just vibes based. I’d call people like Lloyd Dyer and Leonardo Ulloa cult heroes instead of legends but couldn’t tell you why as both were fantastic players for us.
  15. Think in recent times Vardy, Schmeichel and Morgan are no brainers. Mahrez should be a no brainer too but a weird small minority of our fans bizarrely seem to hate him. King and Albrighton then as well even if there were more talented players (though both were still fantastic players at their peak) had some incredible moments and great longevity.
  16. Regarding demographics talk the other day. This is why I think it’s going to be a long long time before Tories get into power again. Despite the old adage that people get more small c conservative as they get older, all the data shows the age split in voting has never been anywhere near as drastic as it is now. Only 8% of under 50s say they’ll vote Tories, I just can’t see an entire generation of 35-50 years olds shifting allegiances all at once as they reach their 50s and 60s and the older voters die off and younger ones become of voting age
  17. Definitely think it’s time to give the chimpanzees a go at running Earth. Humans clearly ****ed up our opportunity.
  18. So just to be clear, that's now 16-18 year olds added to the list of people the standing government currently hates, so that list currently (allegedly) stands at: 16-18 year olds,, junior doctors, nurses, anyone who works on the trains, civil servants, anyone who works in the public sector, highly educated international Masters and PhD students who have spouses or children, teachers, judges, lawyers, British people with non-British spouses, British citizens with even a claim of another citizenship, anyone who works from home, the RNLI, asylum seekers, anyone who thinks asylum seekers shouldn't be flown to Rwanda, anyone who claims disability benefits, anyone with mental health problems, trans people, anyone who thinks trans people should be able to live and exist as the gender they identify with, anyone who thinks human beings should be able to move from another part of the earth to the part of the earth between some imaginary set of lines we call the United Kingdom, anyone who ever signed off sick from work, anyone who believes they should have the right to protest against the government, anyone who thinks climate change is a fairly pressing issue and anyone who doesn't think sewage and shit should be poured into the sea,.
  19. And as I said, he has the clear option open to him to stand in 2029 on a pro-EU platform (which is one thing you can’t accuse him of not standing for as he’s very clearly always believed we should be in the eu) and that’s why I don’t think he will be a one term PM nor will the Tories nor anyone else get anywhere near power in 2029. I’m not a massive Starmer fan either, but I just can’t see anyone challenging Labour’s power until the 2039 election with the demographic set up of the country, the Tories are done for a generation realistically.
  20. But the millennials and gen z aren’t going to switch to Tories that’s the point, there’s been several pieces of published research showing unusual it is that neither generation is becoming more conservative as they grow older as the old adage suggests, mainly because they can’t afford housing or to have children. In fact millennials seem to be getting less small c conservative as they grow older often citing Brexit and no housing or opportunity as reasons. demographic polls and research strongly suggests they won’t switch back to the Tories after 1 election, they’d only switch to Lib Dem’s or greens and given how almost 80% of gen z and millennials say they’d vote to rejoin the eu if polled I think the promise of a 2nd referendum would easily sway them back if support is faltering.
  21. Can’t see it. All the demographic data is on his side. Tories are finished for a generation imo. Much like how so many baby boomers will never vote Labour and still go on about Labour in the 1970s as the reason, I think you’ll find Tories are almost done for life with the Millennials generation now too, Brexit will see to that I think as all the polls from that generation show they feel like they had the opportunities swept from under them from the Tories. Plus Starmer always has Brexit to fall back on. Rejoining the EU is the overwhelmingly popular opinion in the under 70s in all polls now. The EU recent olive branch of freedom of movement to 18-30 year olds quickly rejected by the Tories was clearly aimed at Labour instead to say we’ll have you back knowing Starmer is a europhile and campaigned for a 2nd referendum. Feel like once Labour struggle with the mess they’ve been left with you’ll see them amping up the “Brexit has been a disaster” rhetoric in line for the 2029 campaign where a new referendum to rejoin the eu will be promised which will keep them pretty comfortably in power (and the referendum will likely pass comfortably too). Fully expect long terms EU residents in the UK to be given the vote on future GEs and referendums as part of the 2024 Labour manifesto like Commonwealth citizens who are long term residents have, you’ll have a couple of million extra voters very likely to vote Labour and to rejoin straight off the bat too.
  22. Southampton haven’t been relegated that often though they were a top flight staple for decades.
  23. Mandatory military service for the British army in Northern Ireland definitely doesn’t sound like a recipe for disaster.
  24. Maddison and Barnes still scored plenty of goals. We went down because our defence was atrocious and Rodgers bizarrely continued to play a statue in goal. i dont think Lookman would’ve made much of a difference
