He was the weak link last season too, and was getting turned/caught out easily in most games he played.

People were slating Simpson last season (don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him, as he was pretty poor too), and wondering why we weren't playing De Laet, but let's remember that when Simpson came in, he looked so much stronger than De Laet did.

No he didn't.

Simpson was atrocious and didn't even have the ability to go forward.

We do need a better RB, we're trying to get one but no point getting a worse one - as we did with Simpson - we've had a great summer signing session and perhaps have to admit that you can't fill all the holes in one session.

I'll back Charl91 up here. Simpson did look steadier than RDL for his first few weeks, not that it took a lot. RDL got back in the side and impressed (having had a woeful start to the season). He seems to be back to that again now. All imo of course.

Fine, I'll bite. Ritchie was a bomb scare at the start of the season, and Simpson came in and looked a lot more solid to begin with, if not outstanding.

http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/97423-match-ratings-palace-2-0-city-results-man-of-the-match/?hl=%20crystal%20%20palace%20%20ratings. His first game. Rated much higher than De Laet was for that game.

Second match, vs. Villa. Rated in our top 5 players, and I don't see people complaining about him being terrible. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/98210-aston-villa-post-match-thread-2-1/page-13(which was common for De Laet).

Third match. Man City, 1 - 0 loss. Again, in the top half of the ratings (over people like Schlupp). http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/98383-match-ratings-leicester-0-1-man-city-results-man-of-the-match/?hl=%2Bcity+%2Bratings

Next game. West Ham. Again, about in the top half of performers, going by ratings, certainly not one of the weakest. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/98508-match-ratings-west-ham-2-0-leicester-results-and-man-of-the-match/?hl=%2Bcity+%2Bratings

He tailed off a bit after that (though, out performing De Laet in certain games, such as the Manchester United 3 - 1), but don't give me that revisionist crap that he was absolutely terrible from the start and far worse than De Laet was at the start of last season, because you're clearly talking absolute bollocks.
