Foxymcoxy Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Well the reason we signed him is because he's been consistently around the top in chances created per minute. So no surprise when he starts getting minutes he's up there in these lists. Had a great couple of months.
BrokenRecord Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Just out of interest, what constitutes as a chance? I think it's a ball that leads to shot on goal? I might be wrong though
ScouseFox Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I'd imagine both assists and about half his chances created where in the first half vs Newcastle from set pieces tbf
Munshi Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Which makes you question it even more, why wasn't he starting from the beginning?
General Smuts Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 The assists will go up exponentially as he no longer has Nugent on the end of the crosses to waste chances.
Babylon Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Which makes you question it even more, why wasn't he starting from the beginning? Because he wasn't fit enough? Because he wasn't training hard enough? Because he wasn't fitting in with the squad mentality? Because he wasn't supporting the other players when out of the team? Perhaps Pearson was seeing something we weren't? Perhaps Pearson didn't rate him? There could be 100 different reasons, or a combination of several as to why he got overlooked. We'll probably never know, but I would say Pearson should have earned peoples trust by now to be doing the right things. He's said before that he's got rid of players that fans considered better players because they weren't team players. Some people might look at that like you're cutting your nose off to spite your face. But when team spirit and togetherness are absolutely essential, sometimes you have to make hard decisions like that. I think the one thing people can't accuse Pearson of it not being able to create a bond and a togetherness in his squads.
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Many people (again) argued with the stats re chances created/assists from earlier in the season. Damn lies etc. The reality is in that respect we were pants. Nothing was being created through the centre and we couldn't cross. Almost literally. Albrighton, like Huth has made a dramatic difference to this squad. The stats reflect the reality of the situation and show that Pearson introduced him and got him playing to his best, just in time.

Actually Mahrez's stats match up to Albrightons pretty well. Mahrez has played more obviously but if you average it out they are very close. The only one not with a great ratio is Schlupp from the left. So whilst Albrighton has performed well and had more of his chances converted, it's incorrect to suggest it has jumped massively. I've got a screen shot from squawka but it won't let me upload it.
