The Blur Posted 9 August 2015 Posted 9 August 2015 Last month edition saw General Smuts’ excellent use of multi point questions resulted in his not too shabby 15 points haul which reduced the deficit by 8 points. If Smuts is able to keep up on this form then he would finish just two points behind Facecloth (assuming if Facecloth had his so called bad month every month from now on until end of the season!) so there is a glimmer of hope for the title race? Last month also had the launch of Foxestalk Football Trivia Shield, Facecloth qualified with ease from Group A to be joined by absentee Bovril who was rewarded for his consistency through the season. In Group of Death, Smuts smashed the group and was joined by The Doctor’s respectable seven points haul knocking poor enthusiastic newcomer LanguedocFox who had some unwanted visitors at his home which prevented his participation. In Group C, enigmatic accountant and Cup finalist ScouseFox who gave an appearance of someone dim-witted at times yet has a good knowledge of football qualified in typical ScouseFox style- with a single point but it was on a slightly difficult question. He was joined another absentee Aus Fox who qualified only on the basis of his alphabetic name which knocked Tripe who had the same points haul in the league. Lastly, Group D saw Howl’s tactics paying off as he correctly guessed he will only need three points to qualify and to conserve his efforts for quarter final. Wookie joined him with his single point haul being enough to take advantage of Cup winner StanSP’s shock absence (What happened Silent Stan?) In this month quarter finals, we will see league giant Facecloth taking on minnow Wookie, General will be seeking to conquer Australia as well when he face Aus Fox. In the last two quarter finals, we see Howl and Bovril getting a favourable draw with each other to qualify for semi-final and in the pick of quarter finals, flippant and laid back ScouseFox will battle tense and serious The Doctor in a contest that is equivalent to McEnroe’s raging fire vs Borg’s icy cool tennis rivalry in 1980s.
