All this talk about putting Chambo on the bench, ot having Chambo challenging for the first team is a little premature. The lad is still at school. Probably went yesterday.

Granted, I haven't seen him play, but from the highlights posted on the board the other day, he looks like he hasn't developed physically yet (in the same way Rooney had when he was 16). It would really would be unfair to the lad. Men against boys and the risk of possible damage expecting too much from a body that has yet to develop physically.

From the other side, I question whether he currently has the maturity. He is only a boy. I know if I was put in the Leicester first team squad at 16, I would have the biggest head, begin showing off, and would probably develop into a right a**e. Sounds a bit like Jermaine Pennant actually, who I have had the displeasure of meeting when on a night out in Leeds.

Even the fabled Joachim was unable to handle his talent with maturity, turning to gambling and losing his touch. By the time he was sold for £1 million, I remember being over the moon to have got that sort of money for him.

My point is that the lad is undoubtably a talent. However, he needs to develop and not be hailed as a saviour or rushed into the first team squad. Maybe in a year or 2 years time. If we have a lack of resources, we would be better off loaning a player in. I would hate to see Chambers get first team football under his belt at such an early stage in his career.

I went last night and although we lost it was an enjoyable night. I think that was the first time i've seen Chambers play and it's unbelievable that the lad is only 15. It's far too early to get him in the first team even if we were allowed but the facts he's commanding a first team spot in the reserves at his age is still a remarkable achievement and an indication that the club regard him as an extremely hot prospect.

I thought Hume looked ****in awesome and he deserves to wear white boots, unlike the some of the chancers i've seen wear them before. He leaps higher than Frank Sinclair can and that could be a massive asset to our team. With de Vries not so strong in the air, we lack any threat when crossing the ball but we could see Hume get on the end of a few Wilcox wonders, imagine the possibilities if you will.

I thought we were unlucky not to score 3 or 4 goals, mainly all from Chambers and Hume. Kisnorbo looks an animal and he'll be sent off a few times in a season in my opinion. But having said that he does get stuck in and could be a nuisance should he play towards the opposition. Hamill showed flashes of talent aswell, I think he looks like he'd be better to come on with 30 mins to go when others are knackered.

All in all a productive evening and i'll be attending the other home games if I have the time.

Chambers has definately got more tricks than Paul Daniels, the next few years will be extremely interesting. Let's hope we've got the real deal on our hands.

Hume, squire i'll see you at 3pm on saturday please.

I really think you should see him before deciding whether he's too under-developed to be on the first team bench or likely to be unable to handle things temporamentally.

People like Trevor Francis and Rooney and others have done it and I saw nothing yesterday that suggested Chambers would be overly intimidated by big, strong, fast, hardcase footballers.

Palace had them in abundance and Chambers coped well.

Nor would I imagine CL would give him such breaks if he thought he'd not be able to take the higher profile. Certainly he didn't strike me as anything but a damned good, always threatening footballer. He worked hard and the team seemed to want to play with him which is always a good sign for a youngster.

I may be wrong but Chambers doesn't look as if he'll ever be big in the Rooney sense - or particularly tall. But, he'll be lethal enough with what he's got and there's many a small guy has made a big mark in football.

Small guys who become champion sportsmen find their own ways of surviving - it goes with the situation - and what's the point loaning a player who's nothing special when you can use those opportunities to develop someone in your own Academy who is?.

I watched him and thought him good enough for a place on the bench (if it is allowed, of course) but RicFlair watched him and felt it's a bit premature. I wouldn't necessarily argue with Ric's view (or yours), both of you may, indeed be right.

It's just that I can't think of anyone who would benefit more from coming off the bench to play 15-20 minute cameos when the chance arises. We don't have lots of specialist marksmen. Whether he does so sooner or later, he'll survive I'm sure. It'll be something to look forward to.

I was impressed with him, but I think that a season in the starting line-up in the reserves with a mixture of youth and experience will aid his development and when he's old enough to legally play then the first team is a possibility. Stearman showed potential like Chambers is doing and worked hard for a year in the reserves with promise of making the step-up if he continued to improve and it's worked extremely well for Rich. I imagine a same game plan will be used with Chambers, certain targets and goals for him to knuckle down and reach before he is unleashed on the first team.

Levein know's how to handle youngsters he's done it with Gordon, Webster and a few others at Hearts and done it with Stearman here and it looks like he's going to utilize Sheehan and Weso aswell.
