StanSP Posted 21 January 2016 Posted 21 January 2016 'free entry' 'spaces available to enter at only £25 per week' what.
Tevez Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 They charge you to join, then you have to pay weekly.
DB11 Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 Fiver per player seems a bit steep. £3.50 for a team of seven, two subs is about right
Voll Blau Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 £3.50 for a team of seven, two subs is about right Still, don't think I've ever paid that much for a fives league?
DB11 Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 Still, don't think I've ever paid that much for a fives league? A few years ago I reffed in one (Leisure Leagues again) and it was £18 a team so yeah cheaper than this one
StanSP Posted 22 January 2016 Posted 22 January 2016 They charge you to join, then you have to pay weekly. so at what point is it 'free'?
DB11 Posted 23 January 2016 Posted 23 January 2016 so at what point is it 'free'? It's free entry. Some leagues you pay to enter, and then you pay your match fee. This is saying that the entry fee is waived and you just pay the weekly match fee
Naylor118 Posted 27 January 2016 Author Posted 27 January 2016 Seems like DB11 is answering all the questions for me! With the price of Astros turf usage going up, the price of the leagues are unfortunately rising as well. You can have a maximum of 8 players, so the price per person is quite reasonable. I've seen leagues charging £32 per team which is very steep! The free part is the free entry. It normally costs £25 administration fees to sign up, and we don't charge that to our teams and it comes out of our own pockets as we still have to pay that to the head office. There are prizes to be won for the top 2 places, top place gets a hamper with a range of football related gifts inside, and trophy and medals. Also it gives you the opportunity to be entered into the invite only national small sided football championships in which if you win, you win a holiday for your team! If this does interest anyone or they have anymore questions then don't hesitate to contact me on [email protected] 'free entry' 'spaces available to enter at only £25 per week' what. DB11 Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 Seems like DB11 is answering all the questions for me! I was one of the referees at one of the Leisure Leagues leagues a few years ago so I know a bit

Tevez Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 To be fair companies have seen the space and hit it!! I've played in leagues where you can get £100 for winning, which if it's the same 6/7 lads it's a nice return and gesture - to be honest I think they make a lot of profit than what is made out if you do the maths.

When pitch hire is taken out of profit and supplying and up keep of kit, also paying the referees, there isn't much left. We want to keep it as cheap as possible to offer something good for people wanting to roll back the years and play football, without crippling ourselves financially.
Darkon84 Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Fiver per player seems a bit steep. £3.50 for a team of seven, two subs is about right Exactly, we usually have 6 or 7 play, but we each pay £5 each. The money left over goes in to a pot for an eventual night out. The problem then is, finding time for a night out. I think our kitty has been growing for about 1.5 years so we've got about £600

Manwell Pablo Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 Leisure Leagues, they totally ruined the 5 a side scene down at Ashby, and pretty much across North West Leics actually. Before they took over we were paying £12.50 a team outdoor, £11 a team indoor. They come in and all of a sudden it shoots up to £18 to start with then to £20, with the intention of further increase. They can tell you they don't make much, the Leisure Centre weren't running it at a loss, and they slapped an increase of up to £28 an hour, you do the maths. Needless to say loads of teams left the league, there were 15 outdoor and 18 indoor when they took over, their were probably 7 or possibly even less in the two combined by the time the council had decided they'd had enough of them messing the whole area's 5's leagues up and took it back off them. The whole administration side is a complete joke as well, you can't cancel games without a weeks notice without being charged full price. One joker of a ref tried to get us to play with an indoor football on a wet outdoor astro turf once £20 a game and they don't even provide a suitable football. One of our players was assaulted after a game and their staff plastered his and the offenders name all over the internet sighting their "appalling behaviour" tipping the bloke off who did it that the police were after him and needlessly making a lad who had been kicked in the head look bad when he had done nothing wrong. Oh, and if your opponents cancel a fixture or don't turn up you still have to pay them, and play a boring friendly against another team. Another crazy rule, guest players, you can borrow 2 players from other teams, so the best players in the league played for two teams practically every week. This was only supposed to be if you had 5 players but blind eyes were turned every week. I don't know if policy has changed but some of the refs weren't even FA qualified, and they are not FA registered. Basically it's money first - players second with them. No doubt Naylor will go mad when he reads this as I know LL have a Nazi like propaganda attitude to anybody who dares hold a negative opinion towards them but fortunately this is a public forum and I can say what I want without any recriminations, lucky me. I do in fairness think most of their leagues are run better than the utter debacle down at Ashby but my advise would still be to go with someone else if you have the choice, unfortunately they have snapped up a lot of leagues and monopolise in certain area's.

This is the reason why I stopped refereeing for them. A team complained about me and said that they didn't want me refereeing their games anymore - Leisure Leagues contacted me and said that I would be refereeing the other pitch/division so as to not upset that team... obviously the team were the paying customer and so what they wanted was more important. I've never reffed for Leisure Leagues since.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 February 2016 Posted 1 February 2016 To clear up another myth this free entry is a fugazi as well. It's free entry because the league isn't full, yes they lose out on the signing on fee, which they might have to pay back up to head office, but every week their league isn't full they are losing £25 by not having a team play every single week, again, you do the maths. The minute the league is full and earning money at capacity a waiting list will be built up of potentially interested teams who will all be charged the £25.

There is absolutely no need for me to be mad because that is your opinion. Leisure Leagues is a franchise in which different people own different areas within the country. I can see that the way you were treated wasn't suitable and although it's hard, shouldn't judge everyone with same brush. We are a completely different area and the way we treat our teams is with respect whilst offering the best value viable. The guest players rule is still there to be used and in our league is enforced the correct way, we wouldn't want our teams to be cheated out of a fair game. We are currently expanding our league and the free entry we offer will be indefinite as to 'come and have a go' at football shouldn't be charged. Our price is the cheapest in the area and we aim to keep to it that way so that everyone can play football affordably yet competively. I can only apologise for the bad experience you had with someone else's franchise, but we do not do it the way you have experienced before.

I tend not to judge with brushes I find them better for tarring people with . But point taken, the fact you've responded sensibly shows a level of maturity far surpassing those I dealt with at LL, they would probably of threatened me with liable.

Almost got it, knew it was something like that! Haha! Unfortunately some people will give a company a bad name, makes it harder for us who are trying to make it the best we can! But thanks for your response and opinions.
RonnieTodger Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 The Desford league was a complete joke. Paying £25 per team to play a friendly because your opponents didn't turn up.
Naylor118 Posted 3 February 2016 Author Posted 3 February 2016 The Desford league was a complete joke. Paying £25 per team to play a friendly because your opponents didn't turn up. That does sound unfortunate! Luckily our league is full and if the team you are scheduled to play just don't turn up they will be disciplined accordingly as no one really wants to play a friendly!
