Les-TA-Jon Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Good work but the premier league has only had 20 teams since 95-96 season. In 1988 Div 1 only went to 20 teams for 3 seasons then changed to 22 the season before the premier started. Ah ok - back to the drawing board. Will be back with updated tables! EDIT: even with the new data it doesn't change anything, cos the averages are the same.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Also if we look at the min and max remaining games for ourselves and the chasing pack... So we've got 15 games. Everyone else has between 18 and 29 games left, depending on how they progress.
Westerby Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Jon, The averages WOULD be the same. The total points available was still different because more games were played, which means the figures will be too high. There is a problem with the difference between the 75 and 80 columns. We could hope for a couple of FA Cup replays too, but there is no way of taking that into account.
LCFCABC Posted 26 January 2016 Author Posted 26 January 2016 Thanks Jon. Could we have this thread pinned and review on a weekly basis for the stats lovers amongst us?
LCFCABC Posted 26 January 2016 Author Posted 26 January 2016 Not sure if this is true or not but... Football Stats @FootbaIlStats 2h2 hours ago It's still mathematically possible for the Premier League to finish in reverse order... Food for thought.

Rincewind Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 I noticed CR target of 79 is 3 points at home 1 away. An average of 2 per game. His target for the first half 40 was about the same so it is just a normal target that every manager aims for. And some criticised him for saying it.

I'm not sure that was a target for the first half of the season. I think that was our target for the season; once achieved they reviewed and amended
WesMorganGod Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Maybe I'm calling this wrong but I think some of you are really over-estimating the points total needed to win the prem this season. I don't think its gonna be anywhere near as high as previous seasons, because the proof of that is after 23 games in previous seasons the sides had much more points. Everyone is dropping a lot of points this season and its not gonna magically change. if we get another 30 points we will take the title, 77 will be enough.. 75,76,77, will win the league this season. no more. I'll be very very surprised if anyone reaches 80.
stripeyfox Posted 26 January 2016 Posted 26 January 2016 Not losing against City and Arsenal is critical to our chances. We can't afford to give them 3 points each
LCFCABC Posted 3 February 2016 Author Posted 3 February 2016 Bump Can you update with the results from last night Jon? Thanks
