Fundraiser help and ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks.

I'm currently in the process of organising a fundraiser for my terminally ill father in law. We are trying to raise money to help pay for treatment that the Governent has cut funding for which has had positive effects in the past to help deal with his illness.

Reason I'm letting you folks know this is not so you all throw money at us but if anybody can help in any way by forwarding items we could add to the auction to help raise money my family would be forever grateful - even if it's an idea you could share?

We are all lifelong LCFC supporters and I am a frequent user of Foxestalk so I thought I would share with you guys to see if anyone could help!

Thanks once again.

Very sorry to hear about father in law

Is it terminal or will this treatment maybe change that outlook ?

From my own experience the human side will help sell and get support for what ever route you go , reach out to people with the story and people will Connect

Auctions always seem to get good support

He was first diagnosed in Oct 2014 with a prognosis of 12-18 months. He then underwent chemotherapy with an antibody to try and help the chemo become more effective - this was effective and reduced the cancer in size dramatically. Since then the cancer has become more active again however the Governent have now cut the funding for the antibody which helped him out so much resulting in our only resort to raising the money to pay for it ourselves privately.

Thank you for your kind words and support dropofclaridge!

That's shocking

My advise get a private apt with an different oncologist for a 2nd opinion the funding may be available in another area and as such you can get referred out of area

Jesus that's a terrible story

What is the cost of the treatment buddy ?

I'm a professional singer..

I do a one man show called

THE STORY OF THE EAGLES..

It's performed using a large screen that tells the story of how the band formed and all their big hits such as Hotel California, Desperado, Take it to the limit etc..

I perform this act around the Hertfordshire area, but if you had a suitable venue near to you I'd be happy to do it free of charge.. You could charge £10 a ticket and raise money that way...

Depends if you could get a venue free of charge perhaps?

...Anyway, I wish you all the best.. I too have lost family members in recent times with cancer, including my brother and my 17 year old nephew.

Sorry to hear my friend, if you don't mind me asking how much are you hoping to raise ?

I have a few ideas for fund raisers, im currently starting up my own charity to help with things like this but we're very early stages so we cannot offer any financial help I'm afraid

I am a web designer and would be happy to lend my services free of charge where ever they can be used

Sorry to drag politics into it, but this kind of thing is going on up and down the country, at the mo.

Funny how we could afford to set up the NHS when we were absolutely skint after WW2, and now, in a massively more productive and wealthier society, our level of support for people in terrible difficulties, is going backwards.

This kind of thing is an absolute disgrace, and a damning indictment of our priorities. When I was a kid I read a couple of Dickens novels, and was deeply moved by the brutality of victorian society, never thinking we would start to go backwards towards those values.

And... breathe!  :(

Good luck with your appeal, Jay T. I'll have a think about what I might contribute.
