Seen as a joke by a few journalists who dont know football, Gary Lineker who should know a lot better, a few fans on here who thought he would lead us to 20th in the league, and a few other fans who might find his interviews quirky?

There is no real reason why he'd be seen as a joke because he's never really failed at clubs but just hasn't won the big trophies. The Greece spell was shocking but sometimes a bad time can lead to a positive future.

 

I read or heard very few positive comments about his appointment but Neil Lennon was the preferred choice in the media which was questionable.

There were a lot of unhappy Chelsea supporters when the football club sacked him.

 

His players at City have just had 1 week away so he probably thought he would have a break also.

 

Nothing sinister imo.  He has said that he would like to be at City until he retires & I think he is a man of his word.

Funnily enough, I hadn't looked into his career in much detail until he was appointed. Knew what he did at chelski but apart from that only certain about his spell at Monaco since then. (Which seemed an easy gig ). Checked his wiki page and changed my mind pretty quickly as to what he could bring to us. The press clearly didn't bother to do that (just as they didn't bother to pay attention to our last pre season friendly at Birmingham)
