GaelicFox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 The High Court ruling effectively means as long as your child attends for 90% of the school year they will not be in breach of any Truancy laws or rules and what they do in the other 10% is really now for a parent to decide on. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-36277940

Len Finsbury Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Bollocks. I like going on holiday in term-time to avoid all your unruly little shits!
GaelicFox Posted 14 May 2016 Author Posted 14 May 2016 Can almost guarantee before the next academic year starts in August new laws will be be sorted by the government Yes but they will have to be framed around this ruling or else they will also be found to be unreasonable There will be some choice now that's a given !

Trav Le Bleu Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 I'm going to try getting away with a 90% attendance record at work.
Foxhateram Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 I'm going to try getting away with a 90% attendance record at work. This is exactly what I think. What sort of message does it send out to children. 'You can take time off in life just as long you attend most of the time.' Not to metion the fact that 10% of learning time lost is a huge chunk, bigger than you imagine. If you take your child out of school for a week, you would be suprised how far behind they can fall, the pace of the new national curriculum is fast, the amount we have to cover is vast. So a week out of learning can really make a huge difference to your child's learning journey. I get that holidays are more expensive during school holidays. But I know what I would prefer for my children. Is a holiday, really that important? Is it really the be all of end all if you need to go to somewhere cheaper? This post will cause controversy, but I'm only speaking from my perspective.
