Manwell Pablo Posted 21 September 2005 Posted 21 September 2005 Mostly sideways though. Granted, he's not suppouse to be the most attacking player in the world though is he, I wouldn't like to see him starting in front off Hughes or Gudjohnson at the moment. Just thought he had a fairly solid game. I know Blackpool are a league bellow us but we did win so try and People. Like I said win next two home games QPR and Brighton and we have some sort of form at last ( although not looking foward to Pride Park or the Vic )
Ric Flair Posted 21 September 2005 Posted 21 September 2005 I thought Stearman was class last night and after Levein criticised him for his performance against Hull he's bounced back and looked solid. Plus he looked dangerous going forward and him and Sylla had alot of joy down the right flank. Sylla looked amazing at times, but he also goes missing from games like Mr Williams does. But they are those types of players and if we play to their strengths then they are massive assets. Hamill looked alot better than he did at Wolves, his corners and crossing are excellent. Sheehan was steady, he makes a few mistakes but gets stuck in and his natural talent is there to see. He'll definately get better, his free-kicks are spot on. Kisnorbo passed it about well, he does the simple things right and that's all we need from him. He'll only be a squad player and he's not let us down and didn't last night. de Vries and Elvis worked well again, Elvis doesn't need to get offside though. His pace gives him 5 yards on the defenders anyway, once he gets a goal he'll be a different player. What's happening to big dave? 5 goals now and unlucky with that disallowed one, I reckon at this rate he could have 20 by the end of the season. It was another decent display, some good football and some things that need to be worked on. We are slowly getting there, but i'm sure we'll be knocked down a peg or two again at some point. Cherish the wins. Stearman man of the match for me.

I thought Stearman was good and linked up well with Sylla, the thing with Sylla, unlike Williams is that he will disappear if you don't get the ball to him, we don't want him to have to go looking for it, we want him on the wing attacking the full-back , that's where he is the most dangerous. I also think the Rab and Henderson need to trust their full backs more, last night Stearman was sufficiently clear, given his ability of a marker on numerous occasions but the ball kept going to either McCarthy or Nisse who pumped it up field or was pumped up field straight away. If it had gone to Stearman or Sheehan they could have fed Sylla and Hamill, but it was not to be.
supedaj Posted 21 September 2005 Posted 21 September 2005 good point - but this will come over time I think. The two youngsters are growing in confidence and these cup games will do them a world of good. Whilst it is good involving them from the off, the keepers are probably trying to protect them at times by not putting unnecessary pressure on them. I'm sure this'll change over time tho if they keep performing well - were Sheehan and Stearman calling for the ball when the keeper had it? I dont know if they were or not - just a thought..
