King Kyle lcfc Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 Wigan vs Bournmouth Attendance: 3,346 at the JJB and i thought our fans turn out was poor today is the wortho cup losing even more appeal
Nationwider Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 Wigan vs Bournmouth Attendance: 3,346 at the JJB and i thought our fans turn out was poor today is the wortho cup losing even more appeal To be honest, it's not the competition so much as the two teams. Wigan have terrible support. From Bournemoth's point-of-view, they're a small club, it's a Tuesday night, 500-mile round trip, Wigan away is a sh1t draw, and they've got to do it all again at Oldham on Saturday!
King Kyle lcfc Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 i see what you mean but just over 3,000 for a prem team is stupid. Cant blame the cherries fans but i was mainly talkin about the wigan fans but saying that the only time they've filled their ground was vs Chelsea only got 17,000+ on sut in the prem.

It's a Rugby League town though, and always will be. Having said that, Hull is too, and they've been getting good attendances. If Hull went up ( ), they'd get 20,000+.
lush Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 Well 2-1, not thrilling but not awful. Pluses, thought hamill was ok, kisnorbo seems slightly better than joey, sheehan proves once again that hes better than gilbert. de lump still, despite a good goal, has no real ability. Elvis was off-side too much for him to do damage, but you feel theres potential.
john_lcfc Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 well done lads at least we got through * clever edit*
Mark Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 I thought it was a shocking decision to make De Vries captain, if anyone has deserved to be captain in recent games it's Joey. We played really well first half and should have scored a few more so Chambo could come on earlier.. Hammond is so unlucky in front of goal, i wonder if he'll ever break his duck. Sylla was crap.
Jimmy Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 why was chambers only given a few seconds what was the point

Someone that agrees, i don't rate him at all i don't think he is as good as he's been made out to be. and i also said to john_lcfc that Joey should've been captain
lush Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 de lump is not captain material, not even in my old school team. To think we had nisse, a perfect captain in my eyes.
Benji Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 i thought hammil was our best player til he came off, then on comes wilcox and first thing he does is knock someone over, our only creativity came from hammil until hughes came on, brilliant player sheehan got skinned couple of times just for those who have a vendetta against gilbert kisnorbo is the new junior lewis stearman had a good game as did henderson and gudjonsson sylla lacks any real motivation to run at players and chase down balls hughes looked a different class when he came on, cut above the rest edit: and oh yes, congratulations chambers, lets hope this is the start of something good
lush Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 kisnorbo is the new junior lewis Oh no, i had the same thought, but only because there the same colour and are lanky.
Benji Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 and he can't pass, take a decent first touch , the similarities are striking
davieG Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 Well it's a funny old game isn't it, I thought Hamill was totally annonymous except for his corners, Sylla had his best game so far for me, tracked back a lot, went pass players down the wing, went inside, did some nice 1-2's with others, Sheehan had his worse, gave the ball away and got caught a few times, Henderson should've had more confidence in Stearman instead of passing the ball to McCarthy or Nissa to hoof upfield, I thought Joey was probably the man of the match, forget Hammond ever scoring he's had enough chances, the law of averages would have given him a goal by now the guys just jinxed. Kisnorbo improved as the game went on until about the 70th minute and tired dramatically. We haven't a clue about killing games off and after dominating the first half, both sides then went to sleep, in the end we were lucky to get the winner after their goalie cocked up. I thought MDV took both chances well and worked his socks off chasing lost causes as Hammond dissappeared after the frustrations of missing chances and being caught offside. Value for money probably worth the £12 compared to the Wolves reports.
Benji Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 ar yes you have reminded me of a point davieg the corners tonight were FANTASTIC both hammil and sylla were sticking in the most dangerous balls that invited anyone to get a tap in. Hopefully we can start to get some more goals from set pieces which we've not took advantage of for a good coupl of seasons.
Scow Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 de lump still, despite a good goal, has no real ability. No real ability? What about his close control when the ball is played to his feet and chest? His ability to turn players brilliantly using his strength? His ability to lay the ball off effectively to supporting players? He wasn't amazing tonight, but he scored the goals and caused them problems, linking up well with Elvis in the first half particularly. I thought Joey had another good game tonight, Man of the Match for me. Kisnorbo looked a little lethargic and a bit off the pace, not sure he's the player Levein thinks he is. However, I recognise he needs more games. Sheehan had a decent game at left back and should be given a run of games there as he seems the best prospect for that position. We should have put the game beyond them in the first half, and we paid for our missed chances in the second half when we allowed their nippy striker to steal in and get the equaliser. Not a great performance, but we're through to the next round, which is the most important thing.
Cobbo Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 People saying 'that was shit Wilcox' and 'Wilcox is past it' got an ear full from me. How dare they abuse our best player. He put more quality balls in while he was on the pitch than Hammill did in his 60 mins... How simple was their goal? Pfft. We generally looked solid and in control though. It'll do for the League Cup 2nd round.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 While Kisnorbo did look a little slow I thought he knocked the ball around quite well. Did anyone else see De Vries pointing at his feet about 6 times after a long ball from Johanson. Really Doesn't like it in the air. Agree with Sheehan comment. Hughes looked good when he come on, Defense is still shaky need another center back really. Corners were alot better Williams should not be allowed to take them. Hope for another trip to Old Trafford in the 3rd round

We should have put the game beyond them in the first half de lump has good close control at times, but most of the time hes rubbish, hence de lump. All that ability to lay the ball off to no one, hold his hands up in the air to say sorry to the adoring thousands when they boo him (dubs has tought him that) he scored against blackpool, giants of English football in 1955. sheehan has more skill in his left foot than de lump has ever had. True, were 2 divisions above the mighty blackpool. we should`ve finished them off within an hour, cl probably expected we would.
Louise Posted 20 September 2005 Posted 20 September 2005 True, were 2 divisions above the mighty blackpool. we should`ve finished them off within an hour, cl probably expected we would. One division. They're in League One.

Sheehan like Stearman is a fantastic prospect but people have to acknowledge the weaknesses too. He made some poor choices at times tonight but he'll hopefully learn from them. I have been De Vries biggest critic but when we play to his strengths he is one hell of a player. I think that making him captain was a good move by CL. It's for one game only but will help his ever improving confidence. Joey is now looking like the player the Villa fans thought he could be.

Hullfox Posted 21 September 2005 Posted 21 September 2005 I doubt that's true! Oh dear, we're disagreeing again.
