Houdini Logic Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 People slagging off James have a very short memory or are very recent supporters
FireFox Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 No James in the CL squad. Hamer and Kapi are in there though.
foxtillidrop Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 Amazed how people can knock Matty James. James and Drinkwater bossed the midfield week in-week out in the Championship. James was an absolute leader on the pitch that season and he has a great football head on his shoulders (knows what to do at the right times in matches). Dare I say, the reason we lost quite a few games in our first season in the Prem was because James was playing in a 4-4-2 alongside Esteban in midfield. Whilst Esteban is a legend, he didn't have the legs to make it work in a 4-4-2. Its just unfortunate for James that he has been injured - people slating him either have short memories or are glory fans. When fit, James is a superior footballer to Andy King and James could easily do a job alongside Drinkwater and/or Amartey.

We are trying to compete at the top level of the Prem now. And in Europe, which Claudio has decided James won't play a part in, at least until the knockout stages. Maybe it was James, not necessary Cambiasso, who couldn't play in a 2 man midfield (when playing in the Prem against tougher opposition and often 4-2-3-1s). Or maybe that wasn't it at all either. We were playing Paul Konchesky as our left back. We didn't have Albrighton's work rate in the team. And Vardy was being played on the wing often.Easy to blame Cambiasso in order to make excuses for James though.
foxinsox Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 A lot of other Championship players stepped up a level. James was good enough to put DD on the bench. Will he ever be good enough and his knee strong enough to do so again? Maybe.
TJB-fox Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 Cambiasso not 'having the legs' (which is totally not true ) was not the reason we struggled that year
