Mbale School Brass Band !!!

Hi guys i need your help and advice .

Some of you may have heard of the Mbale School Brass Band , they are a Ugandan school brass band who are pretty famous on facebook and youtube , they have been seen playing their music wearing Leicester city t-shirts .

I did some research on the band and found out their Musical Director Philip Monk who is from Leicestershire and has been supporting Leicester since 7 moved out to Uganda 9 years ago and founded the Mbale School Brass Band. He also told them all about his beloved LCFC and has even got some the kids now supporting Leicester .

Philip and his team also try and find sponsors for the kids in the band so that they can get help with their school fees and other scholastic needs.

now this might be a long shot but Leicester being an amazing multicultural city with a history on having many Asians arriving there from Uganda in the 70s this including my mother and father I just feel it would be great if we could get theses kids to play at the King Power for the final game of the season, it would really be an amazing experience for these young kids to play in front of a packed out KP .

of course this dream can only be pulled off with money, flights, visas and accommodation, talking to Musical Director Philip Monk he said we are looking at around £30,000.

this is why I need your advice , I was thinking maybe doing some charity events to raise the money or maybe our amazing chairman can help out .

any help would be great guys and does anyone know who to contact at the club who can help me out with this .

thanks .

They are pretty awesome, I have to say. :trumpet:

That is quite a lot to raise though, and its a long way for just one gig. A couple of thoughts tho

The Mercury would need to be involved at some point, if there is money raising going on, but don't let them run it too early, because you will only get a front page once!

If you could get a video of them doing our tunes, a la the gospel choir, wearing what shirts they have, I think you would have something to really sell the idea with.

They best way to justify the travel would be to build a short tour around it, local schools maybe, or any midlands places with strong Ugandan communities/churches.

Finally, just giving is an option, the fella who did the photo book for the owners might be able to give you advice, as he did a lot of work for that. Can't remember his name tho!

Having re-read your post, I think the Ugandan asians in Leicester are worth approaching.

Churches or community associations would be a start, I guess.

Anyway, that's my tuppence worth, good luck!

Talk to the club, or to the foxes trust people who have contacts with the club. Tweet them videos of the band wearing Leicester tops, talk to the Mercury. Get the story out there on Facebook, Twitter, print media if the club sees it as good publicity they will pay for them to come for a game. To be honest this is probably the last place to talk about it if you want anything to happen. If you were coming for donations then that would be a different matter.
