Guest Posted 2 October 2005 Posted 2 October 2005 Just thought I'd let you all know, cos I'm riding high on adreniline and endorphines, but this morning I completed my first ever half-marathon. Considering the asthma and the dodgy knee, I'm really chuffed, in fact I managed to put on a show for the crowd as I sprinted towards the finishing line (half a mile earlier, I didn't think I was going to make it either). Although I hoped for a time under 2 hours, I was just outside by three minutes, but I was told before-hand that the "undulating" course was actually quite challenging. That was saying something. If I see another hill, I shall blow it up!! Anyhow, despite vowing never to do it again at the 9 mile marker, I have already got the urge to beat that 2 hour mark, and possibly Carl's time, which was 1hr 53 minutes. Next time, I hope to enter a bit earlier, and hopefully raise some money for a good cause.

Guest Posted 2 October 2005 Posted 2 October 2005 Sounds good Lisa, i'd like to have a go at that. It doesn't go through Highfields does it? It isn't actually in Leicester. It started from the Caterpillar plant, goes through Desford, and Botcheston, then back through Desford at which point you are crying on the inside, and you finish back at Caterpillar, where some bloke with a mike is shouting 'Here's runner 234, come on Lisa, you can do it, only a few hundred yards to go'. I wouldn't mind, but as I printed over the line triumphant at my probable 300th placing, my legs almost went from underneath me as I stopped.
