stripeyfox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 So I assume no beer in the stadium tonight again, but does this apply to places like the 1884 bar does anyone know?

Finnegan Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 The CL alcohol ban that magically didn't exist in Copenhagen when I got to take my non-official sponsor beer (Carlsberg/Tuborg) to my seat in the non-official sponsor stadium (Telia)? I do wonder whether or not our club, in their inexperience with European competition, took some of the terms and conditions a bit too literally when taking away all their KP branding, the post horn gallop, the Singha Beer, etc. Did seem a bit excessive when travelling elsewhere.

There has not been any proper beer available in the stands of any of our away games. They have sold alcohol free beer that some people thought was beer

davieG Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Surely the strength is irrelevant what matters is if it was branded? Or am I missing the point of the topic?

It said Telia everywhere and they were charging eight euros a pop for beer sold by Heineken's biggest competitor. That was my point. The strength is largely irrelevant, it was beer, it was alcohol, it was provided by a non official sponsor.

I was really just enquiring as to whether the 1884 bar is open as usual to STH and would it be selling beer. Answer seems to be no on both counts. Normally drive to games, but not tonight so would have had a cheeky snifter but alas not the end of the world.

Given the Font is about a five minute walk from the stadium selling tidy beer at normal prices, I don't really know why you'd buy it from the ground anyway.

Get round the symphony rooms/ f bar, much better/cheaper/easier to get served than the 1884

Copenhagen also conveniently had 4 pint carriers and friendly security. Everything was different!
HybridFox Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 When was this ban introduced? I thought it could be an "English fans" thing. But I have some United relatives so I've been Old Trafford a few times over the years. Last time in the UCL was vs Real Madrid in 2013. Plenty of beer in the concourse that night. Was just like a normal matchday. Some of these rules are genuinely quite silly

They even took away The Birch! Wasn't allowed to do his usual pre match/half time stuff during the group stages

Stadt Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 Just like the club said exchanging vouchers for tickets is a UEFA regulation
jammie82uk Posted 18 April 2017 Posted 18 April 2017 No beer is allowed in concourses unless it's 0% Vol , it has been a UEFA policy in their competitions since Euro 2000
