GaelicFox Posted 21 July 2017 Posted 21 July 2017 When players like Andy King are laying down the law it's more than obvious that Mahrez is now a destabilising effect ! The Players are aware he can down tools ! If he wasn't capable of it Andy wouldn't have spoken out ! If we are going to bench him then his value will fall right away anyway , the big teams all have looked away from him , you have to safely assume because of his questionable professionalism sell him at what we can with huge add ons and a massive resale clause say 30% but for me he has to go before season starts , him sulking on the bench will destabilise the team and put huge pressure on shaky if we have a few bad results .... get rid ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4716222/Andy-King-Riyad-Mahrez-not-tools-Leicester.html

He has made his position clear he would like to play consistent CL football - we have made our position clear £50m which personally I still think is cheap but the owners should stand firm as he is under contract. i hope he goes nowhere as he is the one player that creates out of nothing and we are extremely lucky to have a player that is world class and I hope internally the owners, players are bending his ear to convince him that our ambitions could meet his in the coming seasons. I am sure the vast majority (I hope!!) really want to get behind Riyad and convince him to stay especially as another season for us and him may prove massively influential. If if he stayed and we make two or three good additions I believe we could upset the Top 6 again!

Its the Mail for crying out loud - it's all edited statements to frame a situation in a bad light. Marc would have said what would happen if somebody downed tools etc it's all nonsense mate- though your huge fonted thread title is arguably slightly more sensationalist than the story!
Lovejoy Posted 21 July 2017 Posted 21 July 2017 Not sure I'd use the term "get rid". I'm thinking more "keep" when talking about our most talented player.

Exactly what I was going to put. Andy King wasnt laying down the law at all, just giving his opinion on lazy players IMO. If Mahrez plays well and works hard, it can benefit all sides involved. Simple.
Jaspa Posted 21 July 2017 Posted 21 July 2017 Whilst he's our player we should still support him. Kingy isn't saying he can't be part of the team and that he's an insidious element of the squad, he's saying we are together and we will stay together and by knowing that you put in nothing but effort for the team. Jumping on the back of inflammatory journalism based on trying to get a controversial headline to get more clicks to push fans towards rejecting a player and being toxic towards someone who could well be a very highly valued and integral squad member, if it does work out he's staying. I won't boo even if he does go, he deserves more respect than this really. Just please not an English club
Finnegan Posted 21 July 2017 Posted 21 July 2017 Ridiculous over reaction to something that wasn't even said. Christ.
