What is this obsession with having a million quid and getting bladdered? Drinking until death, no less?

If I had a million quid I’d do all the things I’ve dreamt of doing. I’m not bothered by buying another house, I love my house.

Going to Aus and watching the ‘big blue’. Walking the Inca trail. Motorbiking across New Zealand. Renting a box at City.

It’d be a magic year and most of it, sober.

I was joking.

In all honestly I would probably buy a farm, pay someone to set me up with a gin distillery and open a decent restaurant there. Spend the extra on paying my mortgage off, give a bit to family and go on decent holidays.

If tax isn’t an issue then £1m now works out better. If you invested both or spent/invested both in equal proportion and with the same rate of return then the £1m would get a big headstart and the £1k per week would effectively never catch up. Give me that milly now, please.

Or be footballer and earn £5m a year for a few years and then do bugger all.

DI'd take 1 million and donate it all to foxestalk

Would you insist on the mods getting a share as well?

Depends on the interest on a million  pounds pw. In ten years time 1k will be worh FA Have a million and spend 1k pw.

I am in my 60's so either way it would outlive me.
