I was on the side of the pitch, chatting with some of those closest to Khun Vichai that night and waved him off as he took off, like I nearly always used to after home games.

What happened next will stay with us for ever. It has replayed through my head every minute since. I stood for a long time at the police cordon at the car park on the night and again the next morning. 

Tears were streaming down my face. He made me feel 10 feet tall when I was in his company. It seems so wrong that this was how such a great life was ended. He used to come in the dressing room before games to wish the boys luck. 

He once asked me if it was OK that he came because he was worried that maybe the players felt pressured. 

I told him 'Boss, we WANT you there!' That was him — always thinking about everyone else.

I used to feel it on the few occasions when the boss wasn't at our games. There was something missing. 

That is how I feel now. To know that we won't see him again, that we won't see that smile and hear that laugh. Heartbreaking. 

He loved nothing more than to see people happy. All this just shows that everything has a number. How many days you have on this earth.

I have learnt so much from Khun Vichai — but to live my life, love and enjoy every moment and share it with those I care about is by far the most valuable lesson.
