davieG Posted 22 October 2005 Posted 22 October 2005 With hindsight I believe having to predict the first scorer for each team has made the whole thing too complicated and cumbersome. I'm also finding myself reluctant to predict as I don't like having to take too much of an interest in the opposition team to find out who their first scorer might be. The MAIN problem however is that with the tables taking so long to produce, if you do make a good prediction the impact is lost as you may have to wait 2 or 3 weeks for the next table update. Now I admire and respect anyone who takes on the management of this type of 'game' but I think you've made a rod for your own backs and would suggest that you drop the first goal scorer from the competition failing that you drop the first opposition scorer. This will make it so much easier to trawl through the predictions and to collate the results, we will than have a chance of seeing those results more frequently and this will maintain the interest. So I propose we drop the 1st scorer now!

Alexikokopops Posted 22 October 2005 Posted 22 October 2005 Keep the first scorer for Leicester though.
Gené and Tonic Posted 22 October 2005 Posted 22 October 2005 It would kind of make all of the other predictions null and void though.
Anish Posted 22 October 2005 Posted 22 October 2005 It was a great idea originally by C-man and City Fan, but the lack of updates shows either one of two things: 1) They don't have enough time on their hands 2) The tables take too long to update because they have added new rules, such as 1st opposition goalscorer, relegations and promotions, different leagues etc - hence their lack of updates I have been disappointed with the prediction league this season, simply because we have to wait too long for the tables to be updated. It also makes it much harder when you have to do a big update (i.e 3/4/5 games, as opposed to 1 or 2) - and I know that through experience. It would also be nice if the prediction league mods came on here to explain why there have been no updates. I can easily foresee a situation where nobody will bother to predict cos there's no point without having the tables frequently being updated.

Blue Arrow Posted 22 October 2005 Posted 22 October 2005 I think we should maybe drop the opppsotion first scorer because i dont have much knowlradge of other teams
Head Honcho Posted 23 October 2005 Posted 23 October 2005 I think we should maybe drop the opppsotion first scorer because i dont have much knowlradge of other teams No leave it as it is as long as it's updated in time for end of month, it's ok
lush Posted 26 October 2005 Posted 26 October 2005 Am i missing something here...the prediction league your all talking about is the link at the top of this page, above "my controls"? I dont remember seeing a prediction for first goal scorer. Is that why ive only got 7pts...?
john_lcfc Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 i copy hu the person before me guessed as the opposition goalscorer

SystonFox Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 i dont think its hard to do a bit of research into who the oppositions main goal scorers are. i for one know the main strikers of each team, and if they will be playing i put them down. it takes like 2 mins to visit one teams OS. City Fan is doing a great job and i think it works really well.

I wasn't critcising City Fan, as you say he's doing an excellent job, it was to try and make his life easier in the main, but as he's happy with it then I withdraw my suggestion.

Thanks. Yes it doesn't really add any length to the job so will keep it for now. And I think that's discussion closed then!
