I went to school with Clayton Betts (misspelled as Playton). Lived in Houghton. He was a year younger than me and was a good friend of one of my best mates. Obviously at school he was a quality player but like many was not quite good enough to make the grade. Still see him now from time to time and he still attends matches at the KP as a supporter. Good lad, now mid-fifties, likes a beer and is a bit overweight like a lot of us are.
