Libertine Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 What are your feelings on this particular 'festival'? Do you love the creativity and dressing up side of it? Or do you despise the little brats that just use you to get sweets/money? Personnally I hate Halloween now. I used to like it when I was younger, being a very creative person I loved the dressing up and having a night pretending to be somebody/thing else. But now, unfortunately like Christmas, it is so ridiculously commercial that the spirit and fun has gone.
Guest Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 Find out what the 'true' meaning of Hallowe'en is. Then when you slam the door in the faces of more kids out begging, you'll realise how crap this country can be sometimes.

Few years ago when I was younger (about 13/14) when I was just growing out of Halloween e.t.c, I remember sitting up in my room with a Water pistol with the window open (It may have been Carol singers actually anyway it was some kids coming round begging for sweets/money anyway!)

Nationwider Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 I hate it like I hate nothing else. I just go out down the pub every Halloween and stay there for about 6 hours until its all over for the night. We had some skanky chav lads come knocking on about the 17 October last year - no costumes, just wanting money. Depressing. It's not just me, is it?

I hope to God there are no knocks on our door on Monday night, but I suspect there will be a few. Luckily there aren't too many chav types around here so we should be safe from egging etc.

Actually, am I just part of the problem - the fact that I basically cower in the pub on 31 Oct rather than enjoy the comfort of my OWN home? Why should I go out? There would probably be some decent kids who make an effort and, despite my loathing of Halloween, I would probably admire them for their effort. As for the sh1tbags, to be fair, they've not got much guts around where I live. Perhaps I should just suggest they get a life/a better costume next year and close the door?

I think you should give your new strategy a go ....
Alexikokopops Posted 27 October 2005 Posted 27 October 2005 I ****' love it. But not the Trick Or Treating. Never really got them near me, but now I'm in my Student house I wonder who'll turn up. They can have a resounding "get tae fock" if they come on our door, we can't afford sweets to give away.

Darth Fox Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 Used to love it as a kid but too many chavscum kids coming to doors so instead of staying in Monday night to enjoy my new Revenge Of The Sith DVD I'm going to the pub.
Gené and Tonic Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 It's ok if it's just little kids out with a guardian, but the teenagers take it way too far with the egg throwing
Guest Gist Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 It's ok if it's just little kids out with a guardian, but the teenagers take it way too far with the egg throwing yeh your right and if they did get caught then they can just use it as an excuse and go and throw eggs etc one year my mums car got floured and it rained that night im sure most of you know but flour and water makes a sort of glue so the paint work came off

BenFilbert Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 I would say I agree... but for me it just doesn't exist... ... until you find egg on the front door.
Teeno Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 halloween should be for the young kids dressing up and getting sweats, not for teenagers terrorising people.
Lukeh Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 I personally hate haloween, all those little bastards knocking on your door for sweets or money, just annoying... going to make some flour bombs.. ehehehe
