Regardless of what he did or didn’t do - he was still, categorically, one of the worst officials in the premier league and will also be one of the worst in leagues 1 and 2.

Pissed me off that pen at Spurs, twice.

Shit ref.

100% this.
Everybody wants someone sacked for anything they do wrong these days.

So going out of your way to mock a person with a disability is not a stackable offence in your book?

If I do it at work, yes. If I sent it to my boss, yes. But not if I share it privately to a friend. Some of the jokes I send and get from my mates on Whatsapp would result in most of us getting sacked if we made them jokes at work or shared them with our bosses.

He's made a joke that's in bad taste, but he hasn't shared that joke online, so it's not like he's bringing his workplace into disrupte. if he'd posted it to twitter or faceboookI could totally understand.

Madely has made a poor jugdement call and he made a bad taste joke, which we all do, but he's actually done nothing wrong. He's not brought it to public attention. In this situation I would expect his employer to remind him of his responsabilities and give him a warning and move on. Maybe send him on a course. But to be sacked, that was harsh.

If they'd sacked him for being shit, I'd say fair play btw.

It would be a different story if you worked in such a high profile public job. Jamie Vardy Casino Jap incident springs to mind. That happened on his own downtime, not in a working environment but due to the public nature of his work and his public profile, he was punished for his actions.

Also imagine if some of the jokes you share with your mates in WhatsApp did somehow get out in the public eye (through no fault of your own) and people then found out where you work. Your boss would also possibly react by getting rid of you if there was a chance that having you in the company could affect the business in a bad way, just to show his customers that he wants to distance himself from that sort of attitude shown in the WhatsApp jokes

Jamie Vardy behaviour was in public so he's fair game to be punished in whatever way his employers see fit. He was punished by being sent on a course to educate him why he was wrong.

I don't think my boss would actually. I think words would be had, possibly written warnings, and a statement made to customers if need be, but I don't think I'd be sacked.

I think people have to understand that what's said in private, and in jest is very different to what people actually think. I mean what next, getting sacked because you went to a Jimmy Carr gig? I mean some of the stuff he says is outrageous. Do I agree with it? No. Do I find some of it funny? Yes. Should people be sacked for associating themselves with a comic who's made such offensive jokes?

The reason he's probably got a job back is that six Premier League referees were caught pissing about in Indonesia this summer including three who were married. On a charity gig as well.

Five of them are still officiating in the Premier League........

As with everything, one would have to look at the context. The complete context.

Not everything should end up with someone losing their job.

Good, measured points, facecloth.
