Mark Posted 1 November 2005 Posted 1 November 2005 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~735625,00.html Craig Levein labelled the travelling Blue Army 'brilliant' following the abandonment of the Plymouth game on Tuesday night. The rain came down in torrents over the Home Park pitch and referee Andy Woolmer was left with no choice but to call the game off at half time. And the 450 travelling City fans would be left disappointed after making the 240-mile trip from Leicester to watch the contest. Speaking after the game, Levein said: "The fans were brilliant. I went out as soon as I knew it was abandoned and I thanked them for making their way down here. It's been a mad week for them with the amount of journeys that they have had to make and to watch that was dreadful for them. "But I don't think that there was anything else the referee could have done." The Foxes went in 1-0 down at the break - but Levein was confident that his side would have put in a better performance in the second period. He added: "The whole thing is just a shambles because the conditions were bad from the start. "Plymouth handled the conditions better than we did. They played the ball into our defence and we were making mistakes. "We tried to play the ball around but my heart was in my mouth at times because I thought it was going to get caught in the water. "I didn't even have a say in the whole thing. The referee asked to speak to both of the captains at the break and he told them that the game was off. I didn't speak to the referee. "There was one incident in the first half when the ball just got stuck in the water. It was certainly getting to the stage when it was unplayable. "We had a similar situation to this at Burnley last year but that is just the way it is."

In fact, if England had colonic irrigation, they'd stick the hosepipe up Burnley.
