I am now posting from:

Seat 64K

Singapore Airlines Flight SQ320 from Singapore to Heathrow

Currently 10700 metres above some mountains in the Afgan region

Can't be more specific because the sat nav thing in the in seat screen got confused as we passed the India / Pakistan border

How cool is WiFi internet access on a plane? (and it's free)

Singapore Airlines are quality. Flew with them through Singapore on the journeys to and from Australia in the summer. Using the wireless was a bit too expensive for me. What kind of meal are you on at the moment DS? Seemed weird when we left Heathrow and with our bodies still on English time had breakfast at around midnight!

During take-off and landing it's a no-no, usually.

During flight, your MP3 players, laptops, gameboy type things are OK, though.

Phones was the big no-no item - supposedly for 'safety' reasons. Truth be told, mobiles are a no-no because they fook up the networks on the ground when 100 passengers are trying to make calls from 30,000+ feet at a speed of 550mph. ;)

Some airlines are looking at allowing phones to be used. :pinch:

Pico base stations.

It's quite funny actually, because some people have wanted it for years, and now they're going to get it. At the same time, some people don't want mobiles on planes because they're sick of being surrounded by people yapping away on the phone all the time.

That's why American carriers are hesitant about buying the technology and deploying it - while carriers like Ryannair who don't really care are all for it. ;)

There's talk of some carriers having 'no mobile' cabins - much like no smoking sections at a restaurant.
