Last year compared to this year

I think a possible difference with last year is that we’ve a long injury list in the first half of the season this whereas las year we had several key injuries in the second half. If we avoid another injury crisis there’s a good chance we will maintain or even improve on our form in the second half of the season.

We have greater strength in depth and at least two outstanding additions to the squad and the experience of last year may help the players, though only time will tell.

Overall, we’re in our 7th straight season in the top flight and the best 5 years in the club’s history. However, expectations have changed and finishing top half or avoiding relegation is no longer enough  so we can’t keep measuring ourselves against the pre Thai era. The trick is to ensure we build up the infrastructure to maintain our strength should the day come when the owners move on.

I genuinely think BR has learned to deal with the injury list incredibly well this season and shows he's progressed in that department from last.

It's too hard to compare this season with last given COVID, our hectic schedule with European games. Even the league itself feels broken. Christmas day we were second, if the teams with games in hand win, we're in something like sixth with pretty much the top ten of the league covered by 3 points. That includes Everton and Villa in a possible top three. I agree we have a great team, they're also young and have huge potential. As I've bleated on enough on this forum (and I've not been here very long) Vardy is my only major concern. We have nobody who can step in and do even half of what he manages.

Really annoys me when I see someone say “we’re still heavily reliant on Vardy”. Surely that means we have a working system that shouldn’t be altered. It’s either that or continue to try different systems... which means plan A is a failure.

How many teams in the Prem do you find play 3/4 strikers in one game? What does that tell you? That haven’t found that working formula yet. Or not at a consistent rate.

The point people are making when they talk about our over reliance on Vardy is, what do we do if he gets a bad injury that keeps him out for a prolonged period?

We have one reliable striker and that's Jamie Vardy. We dont have any cover that could come in and grab us goals in this system or any other.

THAT is being over reliant on Vardy.

Two priorities for the next twelve months - find a solution for the 'Vardy problem' and sort of the centre half issue (depends on whether Evans signs a new contract. even if he does, do we go with Cags and young Wes in a back four, and invest in another centre half)

They gave us a centurion - Vardy

Think our squad is slightly stronger on the whole, but we've had a quite challenging schedule this year and the season is so hard to really judge. The lack of crowds, packed schedule and out of control VAR has made it a bit of an anomaly season for me.

Last season would look much better if the results were spread over a season instead of one big winning run and one big losing run

Basically what you’re saying is last season would look better if it went the same style as how this season is panning out for us so far

People said the first half of last season we played some great stuff, I disagreed abit, I didn't think were amazing, very passive, lots of sideways and backwards movement. I think people got carried away with league position and results (Rightly or wrongly, listen it's ultimately all that matters, right?) which papered over how we were actually playing, after the restart, results tailed off and in the end we didn't keep our league position which woke people up to our insipid, one trick pony style.

Beg to disagree with this bit. First half of last season, we often played some really inspiring football.

It wasn't colored by the results, for even when we won games post-Return the football was usually gruelling.
