Getting a duck off 33 balls is horrific isn't it lol

It is, but given the guys life story I can imagine he's just happy to be playing Test cricket while alive and whole.

For sure, delighted for him.

You have to say it's a bit of an odd selection though, no first class cricket in nearly two years for obvious reasons. And not played for Australia in tests since being a six in 2016.

How do you go from that to opening against South Africa, away from home, without it feeling a bit.... token gesture'y?

It does speak to an issue with finding quality openers in Aus at the moment.

Couple that with Starc, Hazlewood etc reaching the end of their careers, is an opportunity England should seize upon next summer.

The gang bowls endless 90mph bouncers and looks to cover drive Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins at every opportunity.

Definitely! Aussies always seem to pluck some random mid 30's bloke out of thin air in the hope they might do well.

They really don't give enough opportunities to young players. Not a single player under 30 in that side today.

All of whom are a year and a half older than the last time they faced off in Tests.

This present England team in English conditions should have much less to fear from Oz.

I don't think we'll lose Australia over 5 tests but I do think we'll make hard work of it.

Aussies haven't won here since 2001!

Hard to believe I know.
