Libertine Posted 13 November 2005 Posted 13 November 2005 http://uk.altermedia.info/general/hiv-cure...tidote_433.html Very interesting. What are your opinions?
Hitesh Posted 13 November 2005 Posted 13 November 2005 Hmm...not sure. The tests could have an anomolie (sp?). There could be a number of reasons for it and to be honest i think that it is a slim chance that its a cure. It could be just plain human error or some tests that might have gone wrong. He didnt take any medication so i cant see it being a cure for HIV. And its strange that he doesnt want another test...maybe he is scared of them being positive the next time around.
Bert Posted 13 November 2005 Posted 13 November 2005 I've just heard about this, my cousin was telling me, i doubt its a cure possibly something to do with his immune system.
stez Posted 13 November 2005 Posted 13 November 2005 I've just heard about this, my cousin was telling me, i doubt its a cure possibly something to do with his immune system. i half heard this on the news this morning(i thought it was part of a bizzaar dream) if it's true it's very good news indeed. i remember hearing about a prositute from brazil, or somewhere where it's rife, and it was said she should have hiv but didn't because of her immunity they were testing her for a cure, dunno if anything came of it though.
Thracian Posted 13 November 2005 Posted 13 November 2005 If that's the extent of the evidence - and you have to wonder how reliable it is - then, especially as he has not volunteered for further tests, my opinion is that condom sales are safe for a good while yet.
Head Honcho Posted 13 November 2005 Posted 13 November 2005 Bit of a cock-up with the original diagnosis if you ask me!
Hitesh Posted 14 November 2005 Posted 14 November 2005 Bit of a cock-up with the original diagnosis if you ask me! I was getting at that but surely they would have tested him several times just to make sure...but the point lies at him NOT taking another test for his negative results!
cisono Posted 14 November 2005 Posted 14 November 2005 I was getting at that but surely they would have tested him several times just to make sure...but the point lies at him NOT taking another test for his negative results! I also agree that that would be the most obvious explanation (wrong original test). The problem is... we can now take all the re-tests we want (to ensure he is actually negative) but we cannot ever find out if there was a mistake with the original (positive) test. The only scientific way of testing this healing now would be to infect him on purpose to see if the infection "clears itself" within the next couple of years

I dont see how he could of tested postive if their was no virus there. you would of thought he would of done somthing like sleep with a H.I.V postive person or somthing for him to think he required a test. hardly rife is it. Bollox any way what they gonna ask him. Stuff about his lifestyle blah dey blah what u eat what u drink. what does that tell us. Sod all because we havent got another case to compare it to.

I see your point. I heard him speak on the radio and I thought he sounded gay(?). Given the higher incidence of HIV among the gay population, could that not have been enough reason for him to be tested anyway? As you say, we don't know and won't find out for now. We need more cases (there must be more than one worldwide). However, I don't mind if they study him further in the meantime...
