I used to do the odd house clearance. And sometimes we’d get half decent stuff, that we didn’t really want to skip, as seemed a shame to throw a perfectly good sofa, cupboard, bed etc away. It was surprisingly hard to get rid off. Mainly because health and safety. Fire regulations etc. Used to be more bother in end trying to get someone to take it. There was a place that took furniture for homeless starting up in new accommodation, that seemed a little more lenient but can’t remember there name sorry.

Alternatively, contact one of the Auction Houses in Leicester ... and just give the money you get (or some of it) to whichever charity you like.

We used Churchgate Auctions some years back to clear out a house, and they were very good.

Sorry for your loss.

You could look at contacting a local group/person on Facebook that upcycles.

Charge them a few quid to take them away.

They'll make more, but they'll put in some hard work to spruce them up and make sure other people get use out of it all.

Oh god, am I turning in to that person? Someone shoot me lol

This is bringing back bad memories. I just can't chuck out stuff that belonged to my mother who passed 26 years ago. Stuff like hand written shopping lists, shoes, makeup. I know it's illogical because it's bound to all end up in a skip one day.

I envy your logical outlook. Good luck.

Time for a drink, I think.

First of all huge condolences for your loss.

Facebook marketplace is excellent, you're guaranteed to make a few quid out of your belongings. I've sold half a tin of paint, an old boiler, broken hair straighteners, fence posts etc etc.

Freecycle is also good, I got rid of a metal gate, posted it online and unbelivably had 17 offers for it within the hour. Failing that, LOROS are always excellent if you live in Leicestershire, they usually pick up too.
