Turns out he's just a lazy sod and could pronounce it all along. Only took 6 years of "Inne-acho" before the penny dropped. 

By the same token, I'm waiting patiently for Alan Shearer to stop pronouncing it "I-ya-nacho"

It's just a return to having 3 European comps like the 80s & 90s, when there was European Cup, UEFA and the Cup winners Cup.

 

It the equivalent of winning the League cup  domestically.

 

 

Agree. I can’t remember anyone knocking the cup winners cup back in the day and I haven’t heard any teams who won it rubbishing it since or now. I say we should absolutely go all out to win this now.

I'm embracing it now although I didn't at first. I guess this is because it's a new competition which will gain weight and prestige in the coming years. Any euro trophy will complement our expanding honours board and enhance the clubs status. 

 

Newcastle fans often drop in their Fairs Cup win in 1968 when the discussion comes up about why they are seen as a 'big' club.
