Perhaps he will come back but only if a certain manager has left and that time has now come

However, after sitting on the bench on Thursday night, Schmeichel was named in the starting line-up for Nice’s Ligue 1 game against Troyes on Sunday afternoon. Nice came out as 3-2 winners, with the two Troyes goals coming in the final 10 minutes.

Ahead of the game, Rivere also hit back at reports over Schmeichel’s future, saying that he needs time to adapt after spending so long at City.

 

“I discovered this article when I arrived at the stadium. I did not see him. Frankly, we are far from reality,” the club chief told Amazon Prime Video before the game on the reports.

"He's a boy who doesn't have much to prove. It sometimes takes time to adapt, he was for 10 years in Leicester. It's another world, another different universe.

 

He is a very good goalkeeper, we have two very good goalkeepers. It is Lucien Favre who chooses who plays. We do not intervene in the choices”.

He added: “I was still shocked when I saw this article earlier. I don't understand how you can say all that about a player. We are here to support him, he is part of the squad and I am convinced that he will bring everything he has to bring to the team”.
