So living in Cornwall managed to get a ticket for this and have to say, how things have changed amongst the support really filled me with sadness.

 

From minute one, the atmosphere was flat and quite toxic.  Arguments between fans, constant booing and criticism (even though we started the game very well) and generally no support for the team and this is more than noticeable on the pitch (evidenced by Hermanson when leaving the pitch at half time actually saying to the fans, 'We need you.  Please!'.

 

Having lived down here for a number of years, I don't get to games as much as I would like.  I'd be interested to know when support of the team was solely conditional on them performing on the pitch.  'Through the good times and the bad, we always back the lads' are the words we used to sing.  Was not enjoyable at all to be in that atmosphere and watch that dross of a 2nd half.

 

Addressing the performance.  Personally, i've tried to cut Enzo as much as slack as possible.  At the start of the season, it was a work in progress so you can kind of forgive it.  After the Jan transfer window, you can understand the frustration with what happened with Sensi, but now?  It's actually indefensible the way he will not deviate at all.  Faes was last night (and has been for a few weeks) absolutely atrocious and should have been hooked at half time.  The defending for the goal was probably the worst bit of defending i've seen for such a long time.  Why back off AND show him inside??  Absolutely bizarre and at the other end of the pitch, it must be an awful situation to be in but I can have no sympathy for Daka and he really shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.

 

The chances he's missed against Plymouth, Leeds, Millwall and that header at home (forgive me, I can't remember the game) are just inexcusable.  If he's even in the squad for the next game, then I can only think that Enzo was lied to to get him through the door at the start of the season and this is his revenge.  Nothing else at this point makes any sense.

 

Having said all this, we are still in a position where we can control our own fate.  Not sure I have the confidence that we can do anything positive with that.

When all said and done it’s the players that play the game, they must take the majority of the 

blame for these lacklustre performances. They never really seem up for the game. They haven’t 

got a terrier’s attitude, they never seem to fight tooth and nail in any match, they seem to almost

expect to win.

 

But Enzo’s style of play still rankles me…….

Problem: players are tired.

Enzo makes very little rotation to a side who has 3 games in 6 days. Weirdly he did this well early on in the season. Also only made 2 subs yesterday.

 

Problem: decent chances not finished off

Enzo continues to pick what looks like our worst finisher as striker and is not trying Cannon/Nacho more.

 

Problem: possession needs more penetration

Well I agree entirely with this one but there seems to be no attempt to make it happen. Ndidi for Akgun maybe? Trying to strikers? No attempt has been made to rectify this 

 

Problem: a new manager looking for solutions

Can't lie I've seen no evidence of this at all.

 

Problem: need more from fans

This is a joke. Fans have been with the team more than they deserve recently. I'd love us to be noisier but in truth I don't know how that would push us over the line anyway given there's no urgency or intensity to the way we play.

We have 10x the wage bill of Plymouth, not even Man City has that big of a ratio against us.
