davieG Posted 18 December 2005 Posted 18 December 2005 Never mind asking "Why do people feel sorry for Levein?" What I want to know is why some people seem to be taking so much delight in our current postition? It's like they're the proletariat of the French Revolution baying for the blood of Craig Levein . Calling for his head, for the executioner to roll out the guillotine to chop it off . They're laughing  and jeering at the very thought of it rolling off the wooden platform, blood spurting everywhere. As they call for it to be put in a wicker basket to be paraded around the Walkers Stadium as the both boo and cheer at they're predicted demise of this man.
Head Honcho Posted 18 December 2005 Posted 18 December 2005 I'd just be happy with a ducking pool in the middle of the pitch after 90 minutes. We line all the players up and duck em one at a time and the longer the crowd boo the longer they stay under! At least that way we get our money's worth!
Benji Posted 18 December 2005 Posted 18 December 2005 consequently... Was Napoleon a 'Son of the revolution', an 'Enlightened Despot' or a 'Dictator'?
Thracian Posted 18 December 2005 Posted 18 December 2005 He was a short-arsed French military smartarse with a miniscule dick who, just like Leicester, was probably a bit unlucky not to win his last "match". Sadly for him he couldn't even force a draw. The consequences were the same as will probably be waiting for Sheehan Monday morning (encouraged by a few fans) - long term exile. Talking of Sheehan, I bet he wished City had the Arsenal-Chelsea ref. Essien managed to flatten a guy with his elbow yet still stay on. He later committed another unquestionably bookable foul and was still not get sent off. And still the authorities pay lip service to the idea of being consistent and fine managers if they utter a few reactionary words as a consequence of such decisions.
Nationwider Posted 18 December 2005 Posted 18 December 2005 What I want to know is why some people seem to be taking so much delight in our current postition? Too many short-termists. Besides, its the English way - build someone up and then knock them down again. We're a bit crap at the moment - not in the fact that we play diabolical football, but in that we've had 3 or 4 sides on the ropes recently with the ref couting 6,7,8.... and then for some inexplicable reason, we've picked our opponents up, brushed them off, made them tea and sandwiches and sent them on their way with a point or three. Head scratching and Levein-out polls all round. A while ago, Babylon made an excellent thread outlining a list of managers who, given two, three or more seasons, had created promotion sides. I can't be bothered to link to it, but it was a damn good thread. I think business will pick up for Levein, if he's allowed time, and make the following points: 1 - we won't be relegated. 2 - we've had far, far worse teams than this. 3 - there's nothing wrong with being crap. 4 - Michael Essian is a dirty player. 5 - Napoleon is just a good way of getting rid of thrush.

Amen to that... I know if I was on the pitch with him I'd go for his legs, whether I was on his team or not...

Name them... 3 - there's nothing wrong with being crap. Oh yes there is. I value the time and money I spend watching this sorry bunch. There are plenty of other ways of spending Saturday afternoons.... 4 - Michael Essian is a dirty player. possibly, though no worse than Vieira was... 5 - Napoleon is just a good way of getting rid of thrush. - if you say so...

Part of me agrees. Except the bit about Essien, which is spot on.

Particularly Pleat as he came with a rep and really made turned us into a ludicrous side, particularly defensively. I'm talking 80-odd goals a season conceeded. 3 - A good point. I'm not a season-ticket holder so I don't watch the dross week-in week-out and I agree with the VFM point. I've seen City six times now this season, at an average cost of £60-70 per game as I travel by car on my own. Its a labour of love, when I can afford to go. Its the same for every City fan - football is so expensive these days. Garden centres are cheaper, if you just go for a coffee, I suppose.

The People's Hero Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 No. It would be massive. Precisely... So I'm fed up with people making the short sighted assumption that giving something time automatically makes it better. Things might get better with time, I accept that. But they could also get a lot worse.

I don't think they'd dramatically improve if Jose Mourinho took over either. Or Steve Walsh for that matter, as that ridiculous notion appears to have reared its head again today. I'm glad I'm going home for Christmas, and that I'll be at the Palace Of Glittering Delights on Boxing Day. I'll take whatever st1t they serve up with good humour, part-timer that I am.
