I would probably have him in the starting lineup as he's a good strong tackler but he's a bomb scare on the ball, which is not good enough for what we paid.

Hopefully he can and will improve. Still young. For me at least, a centre back has to be able to defend and tackle first and foremost.

Yh but he creates a lot of chances for the opposition by giving it away similar to Faes. If we have him in the team we need to not try and pass it out otherwise it will cause problems.

Don't think Okoli has had a fair crack. Could turn out decent.

We said the same about Souttar. We have a weird habit of buying players and then deciding they aren’t good enough without really giving them a run. Souttar should have been in the side last year - that would have saved us paying over the odds and being lumbered with an ageing Coady.

Injury issues?

The last couple of seasons his injuries have definitely crept up, hard to tell if it's because he's struggling for regular match time or if his body is going. Overall he's missed 45 games in 7 seasons, with 29 of them coming in the last 2 years. The groin and hamstring injuries would concern me, Toe injury is hard to tell because it's often a knock which can happen to anyone rather than a tear for example. You raise a good point. He's been in and out of the team for some time now without regular stints (he's made about 15 full 90 minutes per season over the last couple of years). I'd have to leave that to the scouts/physios to properly investigate really. Could very well be an issue though.

Don’t worry all. As part of the season review “demanded” by Top post relegation, the January window of 22/23 was definitely on the agenda. You know the majorly important window in which it took us all month to sign Harry Souttar for the price quoted on day 1. A few weeks to wrap up an unknown Danish Left Back. And despite being desperate for one, no keeper.

That won’t happen again. Our last January window was much better, nothing stupid happened last year, did it.

Guys, we haven’t had a good January window since Walsh was in control of our transfers.

I can't see it makes too much of a difference.  All clubs will be looking to improve, do we have enough £££'s to get the players we need???

Our chance of survival depends on how other clubs fare, rather then what we can do.

This is it for me.

We talk about needing 3/4 quality additions to improve the starting 11. This is unlikely with how our club is run anyway.

Let’s say for a minute we get them. That just brings us to par with those above us. That though also relies on those above standing still which I can’t see.

Wolves - new manager and been struggling so they will back him.

Everton - new ownership who will likely want to get off to a positive start.

It sounds defeatist but I just feel that needing both our club to get it right and rely on other clubs not to is too huge an ask and it just seems the writing is on the wall already.

It’s massive but it’s not as big as 2 years ago.

A right back is absolutely key, normally I’d want a raw player we can build it but it’s important they can hit the ground running. That’s often the big downside to January business.

I’m not even sure we have many squad registration spaces do we? Probably need a few out first as always with us.
