It's almost time.

Any other Foxestalkers going to be diving in on Friday to the latest installment?

Played the first and last betas and am pretty excited.

Long-time player of pretty much all MH games on PSP, PS4, Switch and PS5.

To say I'm beyond excited would be an understatement. Was absolutely blown away in both betas, too. The continuous QoL updates they make game-on-game continue to amaze.

Yeah so many little details just felt great. Mostly only really played DBs in the beta which I mained in World and the combat felt so much more slick and responsive.

Mate and I have both booked Friday off to get straight on it. Haven't done that for launch day of a game in many years lol

Yeah the changes they've made for DB and all weapons, especially with the Focus Strikes look brilliant. Non-MH players have always passed comments on the combat, as in the past it could of been considered "clunkier" than other mainstream RPGs, so I'm glad to see they have bought it a bit more in-line whilst still retaining the uniqueness.

I dont blame you on taking the day off. I normally never pre order games too (last one I did was BF2042 lol) but one thing you can be pretty much sure on with this franchise is they release the game when it's ready.

Feel free to ping me your username as they've finally made this game cross play. Sure I could join in some hunts after work on Friday.

Looks like the multiplayer system is exactly the same as World which is a bit of a missed opportunity given all the hype for the big persistent world.

I don't particularly mind that, it was functional in world, but it definitely could have been improved.

All in a all, hyped.

i downloaded the MH game in PS Plus a few weeks ago, i had never played an MH game before. I played for all of 10 mins and had no idea what was going on and hated the controls. So gave up on it without giving it a chance.

Is it worth me trying again?

Incredibly common thoughts from new players mate. Pretty much anyone I've tried to get into MH have said similar.

Older MH (that were more targeted to the Western market) did a very poor job of selling itself to new players. Everything was buried in layers of tutorials.

Whilst the games are not for everyone, more recent MH games have done a much better job of bringing new players along and getting them hooked. A lot of the games core has been "simplified", but not to a level where the long-time player thinks it's too easy. I'd 100% give this one a go.

It's a shame you missed the open beta, is there a demo for Wilds?

What I would say is that Wilds, for me, feels a lot more fluid and dynamic than World did.

But I'd also say I think you grow in to it. The very, very first time I downloaded a Monster Hunter game I lasted about five minutes. I felt the same as you really, I thought it was a bit clunky and I wasn't used to the controls at all.

But if you actualy give yourself some time to adjust and learn I find them massively satisfying games to play. The game play is just absolutely brilliant when you get familiar with it.

Thinking back to it, it wasnt so much the controls.

I remember i started the game and was basically just thrown into it and i had no idea what i was doing. Then it just seemed like information overload. So much going on that i immediately thought i just cant be bothered to try and pick it up.

i only tend to play games late at night so me being tired doesnt help when so much info is thrown at you lol

They're making an active effort to make Wilds more accessible to new players with more conventional story and a more gradual introduction so I think that's something they're aware of and fixing.

I love it, I'd recommend it to anyone but with games costing what they do these days I'd still say maybe try and see if there's a demo out first?

Never played this before, thinking of buying it do you guys recommend it?

The last couple of versions have made the game increasingly accessible to Western audiences and Wilds looks like another big step in that direction.

The beta was really fun to play with really solid, dynamic combat.

If you like games that are largely just fighting bosses (Souls likes, etc) then sure. Absolutely. If you're expecting an enormous amount of story and "questing" and typical RPG elements then probably not so much.

Hopefully there'll be a demo up? I'm sure there was for World and Rise.
