Ricey Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 I don't want Macallister as manager, he was a great player and is a nice bloke but not a good manager. Penney for Leicester!
goodlongfox Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Some managers aren't an instant success in their careers, Gary McAllister is still a baby in management terms so people should be a little more forgiving and keep the door open whether his last post was successful or not. Remember the beginnings of managers jobs - Alex Ferguson at Man U, Martin O'Neill here, both were slated, villified after poor starts almost to the brink of quitting but they both held out and stuck to the task at hand. Although both did bring with them solid success from Aberdeen and Wycombe respectively. McAllister should be on the short list but it is worth noting the views of the Coventry fans from his time before and his record was not the best that is very clear. So there will always be that element of risk from his track record. But with a new club comes a fresh approach and new motivation. I would be keen to see the likes of Steve Walsh still connected with the club and perhaps a McAllister / Walsh combo could be very effective! We need to get the fighting spirit back in Leicester City which Martin O'Neill kept so well in his time at the club. From those suggested my own order of preference would be - Mike Newell Martin Allen Terry Butcher Ian Holloway would be great but I think he's a QPR man through and through and they would need their heads checking if they let him go (unless he wanted to leave of course) We shall see but as for now Wilko has to sort out the team and get the players performing like they should be and get some successful tactics worked out..
Oli Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 I would want Mac for manager because he pays a nice passing game, I thin k he will do well for us because he has better players to work with than at Cov.

Oli Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Your starting to sound like Micky now. Passing does get you results look at arsenal for example.

It's results that matter, if your winning no one could give a monkeys about the style, like last time we got promoted.

Oli Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 What we meant to play then because i know hoofing doesnt work, and you lot have been moaning about the hoof for ages!!
Babylon Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Although both did bring with them solid success from Aberdeen and Wycombe respectively. 26228 EXACTLY.... you have answered your own argument already. They have been good he hasn't end of!!!
Scow Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 What we meant to play then because i know hoofing doesnt work, and you lot have been moaning about the hoof for ages!! 26244 We need a mix.
Oli Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 So I say bring in Gary Mac and Sir Clive Woodward. Nah Mike Newell Manager Gary Mac assitstant.
Babylon Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 Nah Mike Newell Manager Gary Mac assitstant. 26250 I hate to break it to you but Mike Newell will bring his own assistant, and i really think your not going to like it. His assistant at Luton is one Mick Harford. Wimbledon hoof ball specialist who learnt his trade from one Joe "punt it as hard, long and high as you can" Kinear. If your expecting champagne football under those two think again.
Highland Posted 12 October 2004 Posted 12 October 2004 This rumour has been doing the rounds for some time now. I may have even mentioned Gary Mac on an earlier thread. Corals suspended bets on this a while ago according to the bloke who sits next to me at the Walkers. Looks like a good long term solution BUT would need a more experianced manager to work with. How about Brian Little and Gary Mac. 26145 No offence to you Bluefox but I worked in the Betting Industry for 17 years(including for Corals) and I know they would not be offering odds on the next Leicester manager whilst MA was still there,I would be surprised if they are even betting on it now.The guy who sits next to you is either mistaken or he is talking out of his arse.

I think it's a myth Kinnear loves the hoof, Bassett loves the hoof that's a fact!

I remember him saying he used to get fed up with pundits labelling his side as long ball merchants when it was nothing like that.

Plus Kinear didn't install a passing style at forest they already had that from their previous manager.

Ric Flair Posted 14 October 2004 Posted 14 October 2004 Yes, Forest did pass it about well before Kinnear went there. But if Kinnear loved the hoof that much he would of soon put a stop to the passing style, just like Adams did to us! It was a myth that Kinnear loved the hoof, I think you will find that Bassett installed that at Wimbledon and the tag stuck ever since. Similar to the tag Adams has now given us......... a bunch of morons.

Scow Posted 14 October 2004 Posted 14 October 2004 I imagine that Gregory's odds will come down now after admitting to applying for the job.
