Despite being at fault for both Ipswich's goals last night, I've been fairly impressed at the improvement that Matt Heath has shown in the past season and a half. Playing alongside players of the calibre of Keown can only be helping. Granted his positional play can be weak at times, but that will improve with experience.

Basically, what I'm saying is that it shows what can happen when you play youngsters, despite the risk of them making mistakes. Heath was rubbish when he first started playing, but has improved no-end. If he continues to improve as he has, I can see him being a fixture in our team for a number of years (possible captain perhaps? was he captain at accdemy level or reserves), hopefully alongside Stearman. What do people think of Matty Heath at the moment?

Well done Harry and Howard for dropping Dabizas. He is no better than Heath, is on massive wages, does not have an affinity to the club and has a fathead. Playing a youngster over underperformers to give them experience and aid their development is clearly cost-effective.

At the moment, who should we drop for other youngsters? I think Makin for Canero (Makin's been looking suspect recently)

I do not agree about Heath, he will never be good enough. According to Petrescu he wasn't even that good for the academy. I think the defence should be Elliot and Keown, with the young legs of Stewart and Canero helping out, for pace.

Are you honestly suggesting that you would trust the "young legs of Stewart". He may be quick, but he would not be the pace I would rely on at the back

Yes, Stewart has the potential, but for some reason never showed it much under adams. When he first broke onto the scene, some people were saying he was the answer to england left hand side.

I think Heath is a decent centre back. I would like to see him in the team ahead of Elliott and Dabizas - both of them have had their best days behind them. Heath is a Leicester lad through and through, and you could see how much his goal meant to him. I think he'll only improve with time, and he certainly does need to work on his distribution side of the game.

I don't think Heath will ever be good enough for the top level, if we get there of course.

He's useful at this level, but for all his height and stature, he's not commanding enough for me. He get's bullied far too easily by strikers. He's also very quiet and often looks nervous. Not ideal attributes for a captain.

His distribution is usually quite poor. It results from a lack of technical ability. He tends to panic and make ungainly clearances that put us under pressure.

However, I will say that he's played well in the last two games under Bassett/Wilkinson. He looks alot more solid alongisde Keown than that liability Dabizas. If he continues to play like that, I won't have many worries.

Ultimately, I don't think Heath will be good enough. Championship player at best.

I personally think that Heath is being carried by Keown. Heath had a decent season the last time we were in this league and I expected him to push on and get better, Adams farmed him out and then he came back and walked in to the first team. He looked shady last season alongside Dabizas, but who wouldn't! I just think this level is about his limit and perhaps we should see if we can get any takers for him. I want Stearman to be given the chance, I know he's only 17 but he deserves a chance after the performances he's put in for the reserves and England under 17/18's. Develop him and we could have one of the best center halves in the country.

I like matt Heath and hoofs original point is right he's improved alot since first cummin onto the scene i believe that was against ipswich 2 years ago not sure tho. Last night i think it showed in his performance that he lacks confidence in pressman and that o.g was just plain weird. Atleast he's scorin at the right end for us. Elliott and keown centre backs. Heath and connolly up front!

He played first in Taylors last game in charge, against Charltron away. He was nothing special and never will be.

You said, in the adams dispute about bringing youngsters into the team, when someone said he had brought heath in:-

"Heath was not special like Stearman, and adams did not bring Heath into the team, it was Taylor who gave him the chance. Therefore adams cannot say it was him that played heath in the first team.

I know. Where does that say Heath wasnt good for the Academy? Stearman has been brilliant, i didnt watch Heath for the academy that was before i started going, must be 5 years ago now. Saw him in the reserves and he wasnt outstanding nor was he when he first came into the team but he's done well since them Premiership days. Scores goals for a defender but his defending is questionable as is his passing.
