Louise Posted 6 March 2006 Author Posted 6 March 2006 Why do I look at this picture and think... "...Seconds later Morris was on the floor in agony"

Muz Posted 6 March 2006 Posted 6 March 2006 Gradel's gotta be pushing for a first team call up , he's doing immsense for the reserves.
Milky Posted 6 March 2006 Posted 6 March 2006 Gradel's gotta be pushing for a first team call up , he's doing immsense for the reserves. will he ever make the gradel at city , who knows, i've never seen this lad play to be honest but his stats look impressive. i think kelly will wait until we are definately safe for next season, then he'll perhaps give him a chance.

He's a good prospect and a good finisher, a person who instinctively gets into places where he can hurt the opposition. How desperately we need a right winger with those qualities and even now I'd prefer him to Sylla. But when you see him alongside the pace and strength of people like O'Grady and Hammond I'd say it was a bit premature to talk about first team. Chambers is the one I'd expect to come through next. And if he gets some chances maybe he'd see Leicester as a better bet that becoming lost amongst the army of talent at a bigger club.
Ric Flair Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Is that 5 goals in his last 5 games? That's remarkable considering he's up against players with league experience and he's not even a striker! It's great to see him in form like this, hopefully if we manage to pull ourselves even clearer from relegation than we are now we might get to see him before the end of the season. I didn't realise he was already 18, so that's good in terms of possibly being ready. Max Gradel's a football genius (taken from Mr C)
Scarby Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/display.var.613533.0.0.php "The star of the show was Max Gradel, a former Auxerre forward who bagged 11 goals and collected the player of the tournament award." is it our max?
kirsty Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Indeed it is our Max! I agree he is in fine form for the reserves - is it not 6 in 7 games? The one he did not score in was the Arsenal game when he came on for the last 5 mins. I agree that Kelly will probably not put him in until we are safe, but he looks like a great option for next season. Chambers is way too young to be considered for the first team yet - as much as it would be great to think the next Rooney is lurking in the academy I don't think he is quite at that level yet.

Is he French? Did we get him from Auxerre? I thought he came from West Ham or has he been at both?

I can only go on what I see Kirsty and I would worry a lot less about Chambers playing that ever I would Rufus Brevett. I really hope, for his own good, Brevett's not exposed to the Luton forwards. Talk about off the pace! Come back Rogers, all is forgiven!.

Nissa's injury free and not close to a suspension. Now McCarthy's back aswell there is plenty of cover in defence for Brevett to be nothing more than an emergency back-up player.

kirsty Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 Piecing together his history - it looks like Max played in France - moved to London - attended Lewisham college then trialled for West Ham and Arsenal. Leicester 18s played Arsenal 18s in a preseason friendly which is when the academy staff saw him and invited him up for a trial.

Jonbluefox9 Posted 7 March 2006 Posted 7 March 2006 First saw him play in the FA Youth Cup game against Huddersfield in December. He's an exciting player, a bit small like Levi Porter and has a bit of an attitude which can be either a good thing or a bad thing. Just the impression I got from seeing him close up. I wouldn't give him a go in the first team this season personally.
kirsty Posted 8 March 2006 Posted 8 March 2006 Ric - not sure where he was born but heard that he can play for the Ivory Coast - some of their scouts were at the reserve game at Crystal Palace apparently.

Cheers! I think with a good pre-season behind him (ala Wesolowski - barring the injuries) he might force his way in to the first team reckoning next season. Anyone who can score freely from midfield deserves a chance in my opinion.
