Bert Posted 19 April 2006 Posted 19 April 2006 Anyone watching?? Two first round "shocks" are already in place with Leicester's very own, Mark Selby defeating former champion John Higgns 10-4, and 7 time world champion losing 10-9 to Nigel Bond on a re-spotted black. Selby faces former champ Mark Williams in the second round, and the winner of that could face Rocket in the quarters if as expected he goes through. For me it's 1 of O'Sullivan, Williams or Murphy to lift the title.

I must say i have really enjoyed watching the snooker, don't think we will be in for any shocks for the title this year, its ronnies for sure
Head Honcho Posted 20 April 2006 Posted 20 April 2006 Hendry v Bond was great! Classic quote from John Virgo: I've got just one word to say about these tables "They're an absolute joke"
Guest Gist Posted 22 April 2006 Posted 22 April 2006 How did Selby get on in the end? I think that Fu and Robertson could go far there both playing pretty well.
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 April 2006 Posted 22 April 2006 How did Selby get on in the end? I think that Fu and Robertson could go far there both playing pretty well. Still in it currently 8-4 down to Mark Williams. could do with winning a few frames really
Guest Gist Posted 22 April 2006 Posted 22 April 2006 Last I seen he was about 5-1 down I think so at least he has won a few more possibly boost his confidence.
Bert Posted 22 April 2006 Author Posted 22 April 2006 He's out now lost 13-8 to mr miserable face. Although he is a very good player he never ever smiles. With Hendry out, I'll be cheering on Robertson, who i think has a very good chance of winning as he is playing very well.
Guest Gist Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 I think Murphy will win it again, but no-one has ever one it twice before.
Strokes Posted 23 April 2006 Posted 23 April 2006 I think Murphy will win it again, but no-one has ever one it twice before. Really, not even seven times world champion Stephen Hendry?
Ric Flair Posted 24 April 2006 Posted 24 April 2006 I think Murphy will win it again, but no-one has ever one it twice before. I think what you mean is that nobody has won the world championship for their first time has ever won it the following year.
Bert Posted 24 April 2006 Author Posted 24 April 2006 It's what Ric said, no one has ever won back to back championships after winning it in thier first appearence in the tournament. Anyone watching Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ryan Day?? Good Viewing.
