Will we get promotion?

Now we have got the new manager, do you think we can still go up? Personally, I don't think it's very likely but I'm willing to give Levein enough time to sort it out

(sorry if there is already a post on this, I can't be bothered to trawl back through six or so pages)

Long time no post.;) It will be very difficult to get promotion and if we do then I think it will be a bonus. Otherwise I expect promotion next season. ;)

i think we should do what ipswich have done. consolidate in the fizzy for a couple of years, get rid of all the old rubbish and high earners, and rebuild with young or home grown lads. Im 100% behind Levein and his team i just hope we give him and the lads a fair chance and im sure we'l end up back where we belong. we are to big a club to stay down for to long. the cream always rises to the top.....

It isn't impossible but they need to go on a good run and then keep it up and they need to do that quickly. I mean 3 or 4 wins on the bounce and your right back up there during this part of the season, so it's not out of the question but when you've played 16/17 games already and not shown any signs of doing that it does seem unlikely.

Just look at the crap that's in the top half though, QPR, Stoke, Millwall, Reading, Watford, Derby and Sheffield United

They are all crapper than we are on paper, so with a good manager like Levein we might just be able to catch a play-off spot. I like the play-offs if we're going to go up let it be in the play-offs please. A great day out and it always feels better when you win at wembley/cardiff.

we need to go up in the next 18months, so that we use our parachute payments wisely. In an ideal world at the end of next season because we can spend the parachute payments next season and then get all the sky money etc the season after :)

This season i think the highest position we can achieve is in the play-offs , Levein will need time to sort out this squad and maybe bring in some of his own players .At the moment he has Micky Adams squad in front of him which maybe isn't capable of winning promotion !

This season id definatly settle for play offs and anything above that is a bonus.

Ill give him this season and next season, come on city. :)

It's so uncertain at the minute. We'll have a clearer indication come next Monday after Coventry. However, it was clear to see that Levein has already had a positive effect. The most pleasing aspect was that he employed players in their proper positions. As a team, we looked a lot more balanced and fluid going forward.

We definitely have one of the best squads in the division. Levein was reknown for getting the best out of his players at Hearts, so a play off spot is certainly realistic.

I'm not too confident. In a word, no. But I think we will improve with Levein and I expect us to be uup near the top next season.

Consolidate in the fizzy??????????????

If we stay down for more than two years you can wave goodbye to the premier, because if we dont get back in the premier within two years it will be a very, very long time before we do.

We have recieved six million parachute payment this year and if we are still in the fizzy next year city will recieve about five million parachute payment. If we dont manage to get back to the premier in that time, any decent player we have will have to be sold on and we will end up like so many other clubs in the fizzy with not enough money to spend on decent players and therefore we would not be good enough to go up. So please dont talk about spending a few years in the fizzy building a team that will take us into the premier, It will not happen.

Ideally we want to get back in the premeir and stay there but if we cant, It would be better to become a yoyo club, going up one season, recieve twelve million sky payments and then relegated the next, to six million parachute payment. This would give the club an average of nine million a year to build on. Which is nine million more than we would get by staying in the fizzy to build a team.

I think we definitely need to get promotion this season or else we will stay in this division for another couple of seasons. We need to aim to be in the playoff picture by christmas and then hopefully push to automatic promotion.

You forget that we have the best squad in the FLC on paper, It just wanted someone to get them playing. That man now may be here. Aa couple of games to sort it and we will rise  like the morning sun. So deafen me on Monday!

As BM says, play offs would be a good season from here on in. if we could nick promotion automatically, CL would be knighted.

I think what people meant was that although it would be brilliant to get promoted this season it might not be a bad thing if we don't get up this season but then piece together a better team for next season which can gel together and get promoted that season. I think most people know that it's highly unlikely we'll get automatic promotion this season unless Levein can really work his magic straight away, but with what Levein has done at his previous clubs I think we're going to be wells et up for a top 2 place next season.

Clear out all the old shit, promote three or four of the youngsters such as Stearman, Dawson, Wesolowski and Porter and sign four or five good young players that Adams would never dare take a chance on and build that strong unit. It is definately possible and it would be nasty if we didn't get promoted for two or three years but saying it's impossible isn't true. Ipswich haven't been promoted for two years and their money has ran out, but they are 2nd this season. Not had to sell Bent, Westlake, Bowditch or Richards this season.

Levein is a quality manager and he'll get us promoted, whether it's this season, next season or the season after.
