Albeano Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 Keith Gillespie has been a totally different player under the new gaffer. He seems more switched on where as before it looked like he didn't give a rats ass about playing for Leicester. Now he is a different player! Well thats only my opinion. What does every one else think :?:
Guest Daniel Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 He's definatly trying now, but he's a winger at the end of the day and he cant cross. Thats the small problem.
jase67 Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 I think he at least gives the team a better balance than Scowcfoft. Different managers seem to get more out wingers than others. I think alot is dependandent on the full back behind supporting and covering there arse.
Hoof Fox Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 Has shown a big improvement in attitude since the new manager has come in and for that deserves a run in the team, but I am yet to be convinced, on monday I thought he did ok but nothing special, I felt that many of his crosses were poor and he still seems to be lacking a little in confidence. But hopefully that will come with more games. IMO jury is still out.
dhermon Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 under MA he didnt even get a game in the res so match sharpness will take a bit longer but when we first got him i was rapt as i thought he could do a real good job for us so far he has let himself and everybody else down but i still feel he is one that could shine if given a chance and it looks like he will get it
Anish Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 I think Gillespie has done well recently. I agree that he didn't get many crosses in but the fact that he keeps the width means that other players have more spaces and opposing defenders gets stretched. I think he did show his pace a couple of times on Monday and he has a bit of skill too which he also showed. Keep him in I say.
Ash Posted 10 November 2004 Posted 10 November 2004 All Gillespie needs is confidence ! He has the talent to be one of the best wingers in the championship , but you can tell he is low on confidence ! Lets get behind him !
Little Nicky Posted 11 November 2004 Posted 11 November 2004 Gillespie is a very indifferent player, he hasn't really shon since his time with Newcastle, he wasn't a big hit at Blackburn, and we all thought it was a major coup when Micky signed him, but he never proved himself under MA and it is only right that CL should give him a run because all the team deserve that, however he didn't particularly set the world on fire on Monday night and is a shocking crosser of the ball, as soon as Lee Morris gains his full match fitness I doubt we'll see much of old Keith! I did notice a couple of times Craig Levein calling Gillespie over for a word in his ear, and after the second little chat he went on that cracking run which earnt us the first of the 2 corners before Heath's goal, CL is doing something right, because he obviously knows what to say to inspire confidence!
dan_84 Posted 11 November 2004 Posted 11 November 2004 i think gillespie just needs a couple more games to get rid of the ring rust before he is knocking over them crosses and skinning players for fun. Morris dont look bad either
Collymore Posted 11 November 2004 Posted 11 November 2004 Definitely a confidence player. Remember when he came to us and use to whinge that graham souness didn't even say hello to him when they passed in the corridor at Blackburn! Can't imagine MA being the most inspiring person towards him either. Hopefully CL will take him under his wing and we will see the best from Keith.
Ric Flair Posted 11 November 2004 Posted 11 November 2004 Personally I have never seen such an inspired performance by a winger as Keith Gillespie put in against Barcelona when he was at Newcastle several years ago. That's when he was flying high, playing in an attacking team and everything was fine and dandy. His talent is there to be seen, whether he's past it is not known as his age hasn't got anything to do with it. If Levein can get that out of him in 8 days then just imagine what Keith might be like after a few more games. I'm not writing him off yet, he deserves his chance as he never really got a good consistent run in the team under Adams. Just like Nalis has got this season, it's unfair to completely write players off as they can bounce back like Nalis and hopefully Gillespie will. I'm just pleased we've got another option down the right now in Gillespie because however crap his crosses were he caused alot of problems down the right. Funny how his corners were excellent and his crosses weren't, shouldn't take alot to sort that out on the training pitch.

The whole ethos of the game has changed under Levein and is now attack, attack and attack and if that doesn't work then try attacking. Anyone Levein picks should be given a chance as their instructions from Levein and motivation will be completely different.

I think he's already gained the respect of the players. Is it me or does everything just feel completely different now? Under Adams there was no respect there even from the fans, Micky was treated as a bit of a mate at first and a laugh. Then when things turned sour it got bitter (excuse the pun) and personal. Under Levein there seems to be a whole mystery behind the bloke and that's the way it should be, I have so much respect for the chap and he should have a rapport with the fans based on his passion, commitment and desire to succeed with Leicester. Almost in the same way as O'Neill, both similar blokes who commanded respect without having to be the funny guy and could keep himself to himself. I prefer that in a manager because a manager is the main man and the fans should look up to them, under Adams he was just like one of the lads and I thought he was abit of a twat to be honest. I don't know if Levein's a twat because he goes about his business like a professional, an assassin almost! Looking forward to a successful regime under an honest and commited man. Craig Levein's Blue and White Army.

Moreover the first two goals came from movement on the right.
