Tommeh Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 I would really like it if we played Germany in the second round, If Rooneys fit he'd waltz round their awful defence, and just imagine the confidence we'd get by beating them. I know we run the risk of losing but if we're going to win the world cup we need to beat the best, and it'd be a superb test for us. What do you think?
Ultra Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 First of all, Rooney will NOT be fit - not to start a game, anyway. Secondly, as both England and Germany will probably win our groups, we won't meet in the 2nd round anyway. But I'd be very happy if we played them in the final. We have enough players with pace to scare the wits out of their ponderous defence. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we gave them another 5-1 hammering!
Bert Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 It'd be better to beat them in the final, but i kno what your saying, In the last world cup, people were saying "Germany only got there because of their easy run" i don't want this to be said about us. I want us to be known as the world champions who beat the best teams.
Daggers Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we gave them another 5-1 hammering! I would

From going what the England staff have said, i think he'll be ready for the 2nd round game.
Ultra Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 I want us to be known as the world champions who beat the best teams. I just want us to be known as the world champions. If the so-called "best teams" fall by the wayside before we have a chance to play them, that's not our fault.

That's what i don't want.
Ultra Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 If the media want to knife people, they'll do it regardless. But I doubt that any of them would dare to have a dig at those who ended the 40-year wait to regain the World Cup.
Daggers Posted 10 June 2006 Posted 10 June 2006 But I doubt that any of them would dare to have a dig at those who ended the 40-year wait to regain the World Cup. Christ! Am I really that old!
MC Prussian Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 If you don't want bad press, don't read it. Just a thought. Alternatively, you can also use yellow press to wipe your buttcheese off. Or feed it to your dog. The bad press, I mean.

Perhaps like the whole England team their defence hasn't peaked yet.
MC Prussian Posted 11 June 2006 Posted 11 June 2006 Perhaps like the whole England team their defence hasn't peaked yet. So, the climax has yet to come?

It seems likely that he will come on as sub in one of the last two group games, and will probably play in the second round. He is injury free, but not match fit, in two weeks time he will be fine.
Guest Michal Posted 12 June 2006 Posted 12 June 2006 You won't see the Germans after the group cause we'll beat the hell out of them them in Drotmund and then they won't be ale to score against Equador Of course it is my right to dream
