Hullfox Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 I agree with you Tom, They knew if they played thier normal games that we would tear them to bits, and as one of the favourites any result against us is a victory for everyone else. The bigger teams will not be as afraid as the smaller nations, then we can suck them in and do what we're best at by hitting them on the counter, just wait and see on Tuesday, Sweden will need to attack to progress and we can play our own game from that. There's definitely a glass half full/half empty thing going on here. I believe we'll step it up against better opposition because of the exact reasons that people have stated about the defensive approach of the so called minnows. However, our midfield will need to operate fluently and everyone will have to convert a higher proportion of attempts on goal. Personally, I'd play Lennon on the wing and Beckham at right back. Nothing to lose.

That'd would be ok but if we were to start Lennon i'd personally go for: Robbo Ferdinand Terry Cole Beckham Lennon Lampard Gerrard Cole Rooney Crouch/owen With this Becks can protect the defence and still play his long balls, our centre mids can do what they love best and on the wings we have the two most skillful players that we have to offer.
davieG Posted 16 June 2006 Posted 16 June 2006 Bearing in mind the yellow card situation I'd leave out anyone with a card, Crouch, Gerrard, ????. Single yellow cards are wiped out after the group games but two yellows means you miss the Germany/Ecudor game.
