Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 Stop Ronaldo winning the award, vote Luis Valencia of Ecuador Valencia is currently second Don't usually do things like this but what the hey, be interesting to see if England can influence the voting
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 July 2006 Author Posted 4 July 2006 I also like how Theo Walcott currently has more votes than players like Draman, who scored the opening goal for Ghana against the USA in their vital group game!
Tommeh Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 Voted Valencia and went on to other pc and went for podolski, anything to stop the cheating tw@ winning
Coxy Posted 4 July 2006 Posted 4 July 2006 Gone for valencia, just to stop tha twat from winning, i was tempted to go for Lennon though

Sparky Posted 6 July 2006 Posted 6 July 2006 trying not to be biased i cant see how ronaldo warrents the award , podolski was a little overshadowed by klose goals but his link up and hold up play was very good along with 3 goals
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 July 2006 Posted 6 July 2006 Valencia is now absloutley battering him. Hopefully he may take this on board and cut out the diving antagonistic and smug smiling parts of his game.
davieG Posted 7 July 2006 Posted 7 July 2006 And the Winner Is: From Sky Germany's Lukas Podolski has been named the Best Young Player at this summer's World Cup. Podolski beat off competition from Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi of Argentina, Luis Valencia of Ecuador, Tranquillo Barnetta of Switzerland and Cesc Fabregas of Spain. Messi, Ronaldo and Valencia made the shortlist via supporters' votes, while Barnetta, Fabregas and Podolski were nominated by Fifa's Technical Study Group. The Bayern Munich striker received the accolade after Fifa's 14-man committee deemed the striker to have made 'the biggest impression at the Fifa World Cup'. Podolski, who turned 21 on June 4, scored three goals in six matches for the hosts and formed an excellent understanding with the tournament's top goalscorer Miroslav Klose.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 7 July 2006 Author Posted 7 July 2006 Fully deserved. I think there were a lot of overhyped young players at this World Cup and one or two who didn't get the chance they richly deserved through injury, lack of selection or their own ill discipline perhaps (Rooney and Messi). France and Italy both have very experienced teams and no real star youngsters (closest I guess is Ribery who is 23). Even Podolski didn't impress me massively but he was the best of a poor bunch in terms of young players at this World Cup.
Thracian Posted 7 July 2006 Posted 7 July 2006 That's something. But the football world remains so two-faced. Ronaldo not so much disgraces football as wipes it across his arse but Real Madrid go courting his signature. If I were the Real manager I wouldn't let him or anyone like him anywhere near my team. FIFA, the clubs, the fans, Uncle Tom Cobleigh and all talk about the need to clean things up but then a great club like Real Madrid - who could instead make a principled and perhaps far-reaching stand on the subject - instead throw their own integrity in the Levein by courting the snivelling little cheat's signature. He should be left to rot at some distant training ground.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 7 July 2006 Author Posted 7 July 2006 I agree, but Real Madrid are the last club who would make a stand over things like this. 2nd place Chelsea.

Alexikokopops Posted 7 July 2006 Posted 7 July 2006 Ha, bitched on Ronaldo was favourite for the prize but his antics in the quarter-final against England cost him the chance to win. Holger Osieck, head of the Fifa technical study group that picked the winner, said: "We want to have decent behaviour and I admit we were critical of this. "We had a number of criteria but we have to admit players of that age do have their weaknesses and are not fully developed. "Players should be role models and fair play is a consideration. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/w...006/5157434.stm

He should be left to rot at some distant training ground. Massive over-reaction. Ronaldo's name is dirt because he did this against England. Numerous players do similar things week in week out. Ronaldo cheated in a game of football and his name is dirt. Lee Bowyer is a racist thug who beats up Asians for a bit of a laugh and also landed a punch on a team mate during a game.. I ask - which is worse? Detach yourself from the Tabloid sh it and make an informed decision here...
Finnegan Posted 7 July 2006 Posted 7 July 2006 Personally think Podolski was shit in the Italy game, really. Christiano Ronaldo was much, much better over the course of the tournament than Podolski, really. From that list though I'd probably have voted for Sergio Ramos. He was quiet, but stable and did his job in the games I saw.
