Steven Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 I hate those bastards with a passion!!!!!! I just know they're planning to land on my garden , and arse up my lawn!!!!! Global warming. This is happening earlier in the year.
macbeth Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 Global warming. This is happening earlier in the year. how do the flying ants know about global warming
Steven Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 how do the flying ants know about global warming By responding to external stimuli that are now happening earlier in the year.
macbeth Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 By responding to external stimuli that are now happening earlier in the year. but how many of them would be old enough to remember when they were stimulated later in the year
Daggers Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 but how many of them would be old enough to remember when they were stimulated later in the year These days it takes me almost a year to get stimulated...
Steven Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 but how many of them would be old enough to remember when they were stimulated later in the year You misunderstand. Flying ants don't have calendar that says it is the 16th of July therefore I must start flying. No they respond to temperatures that used to take until later in the Summer to happen, but now happen earlier in the Summer.
Northants Fox Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 I hate those bastards with a passion!!!!!! I just know they're planning to land on my garden , and arse up my lawn!!!!! They were a pain in the Butt here as well Flying ants?!?!?! What do they look like? They are a much bigger version of a normal ant. They are Queens looking for a new location, still a bloody nusence though <_<

Northants Fox Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 And they fly!! Yes they Do  It's the only way they can get to a new location, miles from where they came from I have seen it worse than this, can't remember the year but i remember you couldn't go anywhere thousands upon thousands of the things, cars were black with them.

Northants Fox Posted 16 July 2006 Posted 16 July 2006 aaah, that would be why i dont know. I was only born in 88 Yes that would explain it i was 11 or 12 at the time In 1975 we had some interesting weather, because at the begining of June that year it SNOWED, then the Sun came out and we had a heat wave that lasted until about September the following year, then the heat wave had a very wet end, as it rained for two weeks solid afterwards

Northants Fox Posted 17 July 2006 Posted 17 July 2006 Wtf!! They sound like good days. Snow in june???and they say global warming is only just starting to take its toll. They must have it wrong somewhere!!?? Yep Snow in June, Didn't last long though And like said the Sun came out and it was bloody hot, we had 15 concecutive days of 90+ degrees in 1976
Dellyjo Posted 17 July 2006 Posted 17 July 2006 I remember going to Saddington resevoir in 76 & there was only about an inch of water in it. No flying ants up here yet but lots of other unidentified flying beasties coming in through the windows

Should teach them a good lesson! if you can get near the entry to the nest, then squirt some ant powder (and run) in that'll sort the fvckers. we do don't do that at work, they either all die in the nest or bugger off somewhere else.........no one knows because we've never done it!

Daggers Posted 17 July 2006 Posted 17 July 2006 Being from Birmingham, our ants our slightly backward and missed Flying Ant Day. Not to be outdone, they (and their walking friends) decided to pop round to our house this evening for a party. The bastarsd drank all the wine, left sick on the floor of the toilet and (I swear) an orgy took place on our bed. Suffice to say, when we came home we were very displeased. I guess that is what you get for leaving your door key with your a(u)nt.
